Journal ArticleDOI
Dexamethasone in Hospitalized Patients with Covid-19
Peter Horby,Wei Shen Lim,Jonathan Emberson,M Mafham,Jennifer L Bell,Louise Linsell,Natalie Staplin,Christopher E. Brightling,Andrew Ustianowski,E Elmahi,B Prudon,Christopher A Green,Timothy Felton,David Chadwick,K Rege,C Fegan,Lucy C Chappell,Saul N. Faust,Thomas Jaki,Katie Jeffery,Alan A Montgomery,Kathryn M Rowan,Edmund Juszczak,J K Baillie,Richard Haynes,Martin J Landray +25 more
TL;DR: In patients hospitalized with Covid-19, the use of dexamethasone resulted in lower 28-day mortality among those who were receiving either invasive mechanical ventilation or oxygen alone at randomization but not among those receiving no respiratory support.
Journal ArticleDOI
Moderate Hypothermia to Treat Perinatal Asphyxial Encephalopathy
Denis Azzopardi,Brenda Strohm,A D Edwards,Leigh Dyet,Henry L. Halliday,Edmund Juszczak,Olga Kapellou,Malcolm I. Levene,Malcolm I. Levene,Neil Marlow,Porter E,Marianne Thoresen,Andrew Whitelaw,Peter Brocklehurst +13 more
TL;DR: Induction of moderate hypothermia for 72 hours in infants who had perinatal asphyxia did not significantly reduce the combined rate of death or severe disability but resulted in improved neurologic outcomes in survivors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of Hydroxychloroquine in Hospitalized Patients with Covid-19
Peter Horby,M Mafham,Louise Linsell,Jennifer L Bell,Natalie Staplin,Jonathan Emberson,Martin Wiselka,Andrew Ustianowski,E Elmahi,B Prudon,Tony Whitehouse,Timothy Felton,John Williams,J Faccenda,Jonathan Underwood,J K Baillie,Lucy C Chappell,Saul N. Faust,Thomas Jaki,Katie Jeffery,Wei Shen Lim,Alan A Montgomery,Kathy Rowan,Joel Tarning,James A Watson,Nicholas J. White,Edmund Juszczak,Richard Haynes,Martin J Landray +28 more
TL;DR: In patients hospitalized with COVID-19, hydroxychloroquine was not associated with reductions in 28-day mortality but was associated with an increased length of hospital stay and increased risk of progressing to invasive mechanical ventilation or death.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neurological outcomes at 18 months of age after moderate hypothermia for perinatal hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy: synthesis and meta-analysis of trial data
A D Edwards,Peter Brocklehurst,Alistair J. Gunn,Henry L. Halliday,Edmund Juszczak,Malcolm I. Levene,Malcolm I. Levene,Brenda Strohm,Marianne Thoresen,Andrew Whitelaw,Denis Azzopardi +10 more
TL;DR: In infants with hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy, moderate hypothermia is associated with a consistent reduction in death and neurological impairment at 18 months, and this effect was significantly reduced when assessed all 10 trials.
Posted ContentDOI

Faust,Thomas Jaki,Katie Jeffery,Alan A Montgomery,Kathryn M Rowan,Edmund Juszczak,J Kenneth Baillie,Richard Haynes,Martin J Landray +25 more
TL;DR: In patients hospitalized with COVID-19, dexamethasone reduced 28-day mortality among those receiving invasive mechanical ventilation or oxygen at randomization, but not among patients not receiving respiratory support.
