Clara H. Jeong,Elizabeth D. Wagner,Vincent R. Siebert,Sridevi Anduri,Susan D. Richardson,Eric J. Daiber,A. Bruce McKague,Manolis Kogevinas,Cristina M. Villanueva,Emma H. Goslan,Wentai Luo,Lorne M. Isabelle,James F. Pankow,Regina Grazuleviciene,Sylvaine Cordier,Susan C. Edwards,Elena Righi,Mark J. Nieuwenhuijsen,Michael J. Plewa +18 more
TL;DR: The HIWATE project was a systematic analysis that combined the epidemiology on adverse pregnancy outcomes and other health effects with long-term exposure to low levels of drinking water disinfection byproducts in the European Union, and this study is the first to integrate quantitative in vitro toxicological data with analytical chemistry and human epidemiologic outcomes for drinking water DBPs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Blood and breath analyses as biological indicators of exposure to trihalomethanes in indoor swimming pools
TL;DR: Environmental and biological monitoring of THMs was performed in order to assess the uptake of these substances after a defined period in five competitive swimmers, regularly attending an indoor swimming pool to train for competition during four sampling sessions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preterm delivery and exposure to active and passive smoking during pregnancy: a case-control study from Italy.
Guglielmina Fantuzzi,Gabriella Aggazzotti,Elena Righi,Fabio Facchinetti,Emma Bertucci,S. Kanitz,Fabio Barbone,Giuliano Sansebastiano,Mario Alberto Battaglia,V. Leoni,Leila Fabiani,Maria Triassi,Salvatore Sciacca +12 more
TL;DR: Smoking during pregnancy was strongly associated with preterm delivery with a dose-response effect and ETS exposure in non-smoking women was associated only with early pre term delivery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Parameters predictive of Legionella contamination in hot water systems: association with trace elements and heterotrophic plate counts.
Annalisa Bargellini,Isabella Marchesi,Elena Righi,Angela Ferrari,S. Cencetti,Paola Borella,Sergio Rovesti +6 more
TL;DR: A qualitative and quantitative relationship is shown between Legionella spp.
Journal ArticleDOI
Occupational exposure to trihalomethanes in indoor swimming pools.
Guglielmina Fantuzzi,Elena Righi,Guerrino Predieri,Giorgia Ceppelli,Fabriziomaria Gobba,Gabriella Aggazzotti +5 more
TL;DR: Breath analysis is a good biological index of occupational exposure to these substances at low environmental levels in indoor swimming pools, and correlation found between ambient and alveolar air samples confirms that Indoor swimming pool employees are exposed to THMs at ambient air levels higher than the general population.
