Journal ArticleDOI
New total synthesis and high resolution 1H NMR spectrum of platelet-activating factor, its enantiomer and racemic mixtures.
Françoise Heymans,E. Michel,Marie-Claude Borrel,Boguslaw Wichrowski,Jean-Jacques Godfroid,Odile Convert,Eliane Coëffier,Martine Tence,Jacques Benveniste +8 more
TL;DR: Results indicate the stereospecificity of platelet activation induced by PAF, and the intermediates in synthesis are easier to purify, with better yields.
Journal ArticleDOI
The enantiomer and the positional isomer of platelet-activating factor.
TL;DR: Compared for rabbit platelet aggregating and desensitizing activity two different preparations of platelet-activating factor (PAF-acether), it is established that the stereospecificity of the mode of action of this mediator is established.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pharmacological profile of 48740 R.P., a PAF-acether antagonist.
Jean Lefort,Pierre Sedivy,S Desquand,J. Randon,Eliane Coëffier,Isabelle Maridonneau-Parini,Anne Floch,Jacques Benveniste,B. Boris Vargaftig +8 more
TL;DR: The pyrrolo-thiazole derivative 48740 R.P.P., a selective antagonist of PAF-acether under in vitro and in vivo conditions, inhibited the platelet-activating factor (PAF-ACether)-induced aggregation of human and rabbit platelets and was poorly effective against ADP- and arachidonic acid-induced platelet aggregation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis and biological activity of some structural analogs of platelet-activating factor (PAF-acether).
Martine Tence,E. Michel,Eliane Coëffier,Judith Polonsky,Jean-Jacques Godfroid,Jacques Benveniste +5 more
TL;DR: This study indicated that the ether linkage at the position 1 ofsn-glycerol and the short acyl chain at position 2 are structural features required for biological activity.
Book ChapterDOI
Role of PAF-Acether and Related Ether-Lipid Metabolism in Platelets
TL;DR: It is important to understand paf-acether-platelet interactions since this molecule is a potential physiological or pathological mediator for platelet activation.
