Integrative Omics Approach to Identifying Genes Associated With Atrial Fibrillation
Biqi Wang,Kathryn L. Lunetta,Josée Dupuis,Steven A. Lubitz,Ludovic Trinquart,Lixia Yao,Patrick T. Ellinor,Emelia J. Benjamin,Honghuang Lin +8 more
TL;DR: It is observed that the multiomics approach identified many more relevant AF-related genes than using AFGen 2018 GWAS alone, which might be particularly useful for rare traits and diseases with limited sample size.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of cigarette and electronic cigarette use patterns with levels of inflammatory and oxidative stress biomarkers among US adults: Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health study.
Andrew Stokes,Andrew Stokes,Wubin Xie,Anna E Wilson,Hanqi Yang,Olusola A. Orimoloye,Alyssa F. Harlow,Jessica L. Fetterman,Jessica L. Fetterman,Andrew P. DeFilippis,Emelia J. Benjamin,Emelia J. Benjamin,Rose Marie Robertson,Rose Marie Robertson,Aruni Bhatnagar,Aruni Bhatnagar,Naomi M. Hamburg,Naomi M. Hamburg,Michael J. Blaha,Michael J. Blaha +19 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the association of cigarette and e-cigarette use behaviors with biomarkers of inflammation and oxidative stress, and found that there was no difference in inflammatory biomarkers between exclusive e-ciga-rette users and nonusers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of Circulating Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1 Levels With Cardiovascular Mortality: A Meta-analysis of Population-Based Studies.
Marios K. Georgakis,James A. de Lemos,Colby Ayers,Biqi Wang,Harry Björkbacka,Tiberiu A Pana,Barbara Thorand,Caroline Sun,Lana Fani,Rainer Malik,Josée Dupuis,Gunnar Engström,Marju Orho-Melander,Olle Melander,S. Matthijs Boekholdt,Astrid Zierer,Mohamed A. Elhadad,Wolfgang Koenig,Wolfgang Koenig,Christian Herder,Ron C. Hoogeveen,Maryam Kavousi,Christie M. Ballantyne,Annette Peters,Phyo K. Myint,Jan Nilsson,Emelia J. Benjamin,Martin Dichgans +27 more
TL;DR: Higher circulating MCP-1 levels are associated with higher long-term cardiovascular mortality in community-dwelling individuals free of overt cardiovascular disease, and these findings provide further support for a key role of M CP-1-signaling in cardiovascular disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
The association of tumor necrosis factor α receptor 2 and tumor necrosis factor α with insulin resistance and the influence of adipose tissue biomarkers in humans
Marie-France Hivert,Lisa M. Sullivan,Peter Shrader,Caroline S. Fox,Caroline S. Fox,David M. Nathan,Ralph B. D'Agostino,Peter W.F. Wilson,Emelia J. Benjamin,Emelia J. Benjamin,James B. Meigs +10 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that, in a representative community sample, measures of TNFalpha activity are associated with insulin resistance, even after accounting for central adiposity and other adipose tissue biomarkers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assessment of Patterns in e-Cigarette Use Among Adults in the US, 2017-2020
Ellen Boakye,Ngozi Osuji,JO Erhabor,Olufunmilayo H. Obisesan,Albert D. Osei,Mohammadhassan Mirbolouk,Andrew Stokes,Omar Dzaye,Omar El Shahawy,Glenn A Hirsch,Emelia J. Benjamin,Andrew P. DeFilippis,Rose Marie Robertson,Aruni Bhatnagar,Michael J. Blaha +14 more
TL;DR: This study found a slight reduction in current e-cigarette use but consistent increases in daily e-cigarettes use, suggesting greater nicotine dependence that warrants continued surveillance.
