Journal ArticleDOI
Leveraging Molecular Architecture To Design New, All-Polymer Solid Electrolytes with Simultaneous Enhancement in Modulus and Ionic Conductivity
Emmanouil Glynos,Paraskevi Petropoulou,Emmanouil Mygiakis,Alkmini D. Nega,Wenyang Pan,Lampros Papoutsakis,Lampros Papoutsakis,Emmanuel P. Giannelis,Georgios Sakellariou,Spiros H. Anastasiadis,Spiros H. Anastasiadis +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, stiff/rigid polymer nanoparticles that are thermodynamically miscible with a polymer are utilized in a blend with a liquid electrolyte, the elastic modulus and the ionic conductivity of the resulting SPEs increase compared to the linear polymer blend analogues.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of Sulfur and Nanostructured Sulfur Battery Cathodes in Electron Microscopy Without Sublimation Artifacts
Barnaby D.A. Levin,Michael J. Zachman,Jörg G. Werner,Ritu Sahore,Kayla X. Nguyen,Yimo Han,Baoquan Xie,Lin Ma,Lynden A. Archer,Emmanuel P. Giannelis,Ulrich Wiesner,Lena F. Kourkoutis,David A. Muller +12 more
TL;DR: Two techniques are demonstrated that enable the reliable characterization of sulfur across multiple length scales by suppressing sulfur sublimation in carbon–sulfur composites synthesized for use as Li–S battery cathodes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Shape-Memory Behavior of Polylactide/Silica Ionic Hybrids
Jérémy Odent,Jean-Marie Raquez,Cédric Samuel,Sophie Barrau,Apostolos Enotiadis,Philippe Dubois,Emmanuel P. Giannelis +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the shape-memory properties of ionic hybrid polylactide (PLA) were investigated and shown to be consistent with the formation of a network, and the ionic hybrids are also much more deformable compared to the neat PLA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lead-salt quantum-dot ionic liquids.
Liangfeng Sun,Jason Fang,Jason C Reed,Luis Estevez,Adam Bartnik,Byung-Ryool Hyun,Frank W. Wise,George G. Malliaras,Emmanuel P. Giannelis +8 more
TL;DR: This work reports the first lead–salt (PbS, PbSe, and PbTe) QD ionsic liquid where polymer ionic liquid ligands are used as capping ligands for QDs, and the resulting amphiphilic QD ionic liquids exhibit fluidlike behavior at room temperature, even in the absence of solvents.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nanostructured Polymer Particles as Additives for High Conductivity, High Modulus Solid Polymer Electrolytes
Emmanouil Glynos,Lampros Papoutsakis,Lampros Papoutsakis,Wenyang Pan,Emmanuel P. Giannelis,Alkmini D. Nega,Emmanouil Mygiakis,Georgios Sakellariou,Spiros H. Anastasiadis,Spiros H. Anastasiadis +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, nanostructured polymer particles of asymmetric miktoarm star copolymers are added to liquid electrolytes for use as solid polymer electrolytes (SPE).
