Global impacts of the 1980s regime shift
Philip C. Reid,Renata E. Hari,Grégory Beaugrand,David M. Livingstone,Christoph Marty,Dietmar Straile,Jonathan Barichivich,Jonathan Barichivich,Eric Goberville,Rita Adrian,Yasuyuki Aono,Ross Brown,James L. Foster,Pavel Ya. Groisman,Pierre Hélaouët,Huang-Hsiung Hsu,Richard R. Kirby,Jeff Knight,Alexandra Kraberg,Jianping Li,Tzu-Ting Lo,Ranga B. Myneni,Ryan P. North,J. Alan Pounds,Tim H. Sparks,René Stübi,Yongjun Tian,Karen Helen Wiltshire,Dong Xiao,Zaichun Zhu +29 more
TL;DR: The 1980s regime shift represented a major change in the Earth's biophysical systems from the upper atmosphere to the depths of the ocean and from the Arctic to the Antarctic, and occurred at slightly different times around the world.
Journal ArticleDOI
Decline in Kelp in West Europe and Climate
Virginie Raybaud,Virginie Raybaud,Grégory Beaugrand,Grégory Beaugrand,Eric Goberville,Eric Goberville,Gaspard Delebecq,Gaspard Delebecq,Christophe Destombe,Myriam Valero,Dominique Davoult,Pascal Morin,François Gevaert,François Gevaert +13 more
TL;DR: It is shown that many populations of L. digitata along European coasts are on the verge of local extinction due to a climate-caused increase in sea temperature, and the possible implications of global climate change for the geographical patterns of the species using temperature data from theCMIP5 are evaluated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluating marine ecosystem health: Case studies of indicators using direct observations and modelling methods
Isabelle Rombouts,Isabelle Rombouts,Grégory Beaugrand,Grégory Beaugrand,Luis Felipe Artigas,Luis Felipe Artigas,Jean-Claude Dauvin,François Gevaert,Eric Goberville,Dorothée Kopp,Dorothée Kopp,Sébastien Lefebvre,C. Luczak,C. Luczak,Nicolas Spilmont,Nicolas Spilmont,Morgane Travers-Trolet,Maria Ching Villanueva,Richard R. Kirby +18 more
TL;DR: A series of case studies ranging from the combined use of structural and functional attributes of the system, to modelling outputs that integrate the biological and physical environments, illustrate the usefulness and complementarities of these methods to assess ecosystem health.
Journal ArticleDOI
Future vulnerability of marine biodiversity compared with contemporary and past changes
TL;DR: In this paper, the sensitivity of marine pelagic biodiversity to past and contemporary climate change was analyzed and it was shown that even moderate future warming will accelerate changes already being observed, while severe warming will seriously impact biodiversity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Uncertainties in the projection of species distributions related to general circulation models.
Eric Goberville,Eric Goberville,Grégory Beaugrand,Grégory Beaugrand,Nina-Coralie Hautekèete,Yves Piquot,Christophe Luczak,Christophe Luczak +7 more
TL;DR: This study reveals that scenarios of future species distribution exhibit broad differences, depending not only on emissions scenarios but also on GCMs, and highlights that a combined multi-GCM and multi-RCP approach is needed to better consider potential trajectories and uncertainties in future species distributions.
