Decline in Kelp in West Europe and Climate

TL;DR: It is shown that many populations of L. digitata along European coasts are on the verge of local extinction due to a climate-caused increase in sea temperature, and the possible implications of global climate change for the geographical patterns of the species using temperature data from theCMIP5 are evaluated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Future vulnerability of marine biodiversity compared with contemporary and past changes

TL;DR: In this paper, the sensitivity of marine pelagic biodiversity to past and contemporary climate change was analyzed and it was shown that even moderate future warming will accelerate changes already being observed, while severe warming will seriously impact biodiversity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Uncertainties in the projection of species distributions related to general circulation models.

TL;DR: This study reveals that scenarios of future species distribution exhibit broad differences, depending not only on emissions scenarios but also on GCMs, and highlights that a combined multi-GCM and multi-RCP approach is needed to better consider potential trajectories and uncertainties in future species distributions.
