TL;DR: It is found that impacts are often severe immediately after mining, with major negative changes in density and diversity of most groups occurring, however, in some cases, the mobile fauna and small-sized fauna experienced less negative impacts over the longer term.

TL;DR: If the results of this experiment can be extrapolated to the Clarion-Clipperton Zone, the impacts of polymetallic nodule mining there may be greater than expected, and could potentially lead to an irreversible loss of some ecosystem functions, especially in directly disturbed areas.
