A methyl transferase links the circadian clock to the regulation of alternative splicing
Sabrina E. Sanchez,Ezequiel Petrillo,Esteban J. Beckwith,Xu Zhang,Mathias L. Rugnone,C. Esteban Hernando,Juan C. Cuevas,Micaela A. Godoy Herz,Ana Depetris-Chauvin,Craig G. Simpson,John W. S. Brown,Pablo D. Cerdán,Justin O. Borevitz,Paloma Mas,Fernanda M. Ceriani,Alberto R. Kornblihtt,Marcelo J. Yanovsky,Marcelo J. Yanovsky +17 more
TL;DR: It is shown that PROTEIN ARGININE METHYL TRANSFERASE 5 (PRMT5), which transfers methyl groups to arginine residues present in histones and Sm spliceosomal proteins, links the circadian clock to the control of alternative splicing in plants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adult-specific electrical silencing of pacemaker neurons uncouples molecular clock from circadian outputs.
Ana Depetris-Chauvin,Jimena Berni,Ezequiel J. Aranovich,Nara I. Muraro,Esteban J. Beckwith,María Fernanda Ceriani +5 more
TL;DR: A new tool for temporal control of gene expression is developed to obtain adult-restricted electrical silencing of the PDF circuit, which led to reversible behavioral arrhythmicity in Drosophila.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ethoscopes: An open platform for high-throughput ethomics.
Quentin Geissmann,Luis Garcia Rodriguez,Esteban J. Beckwith,Alice S. French,Arian R. Jamasb,Giorgio F. Gilestro +5 more
TL;DR: Ethoscopes perform, in real-time, tracking and profiling of behavior by using a supervised machine learning algorithm, are able to deliver behaviorally triggered stimuli to flies in a feedback-loop mode, and are highly customizable and open source.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulation of sleep homeostasis by sexual arousal.
TL;DR: It is shown that, in Drosophila melanogaster males, sleep pressure after sleep deprivation can be counteracted by raising their sexual arousal, either by engaging the flies with prolonged courtship activity or merely by exposing them to female pheromones.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rethomics: An R framework to analyse high-throughput behavioural data.
TL;DR: Rethomics is presented, a set of R packages that unifies the analysis of behavioural datasets in an efficient and flexible manner and is proposed as a tool to bridge the gap between behavioural biology and data sciences, thus connecting computational and behavioural scientists.
