Antibiotic prophylaxis after endoscopic therapy prevents rebleeding in acute variceal hemorrhage: A randomized trial
Ming-Chih Hou,Han-Chieh Lin,Tsu-Te Liu,Benjamin Ing-Tieu Kuo,Fa-Yauh Lee,Full-Young Chang,Shou-Dong Lee +6 more
TL;DR: In conclusion, antibiotic prophylaxis can prevent infection and rebleeding as well as decrease the amount of blood transfused for patients with acute GEVB following endoscopic treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bacterial translocation to mesenteric lymph nodes is increased in cirrhotic rats with ascites
Guadalupe Garcia-Tsao,Fa-Yauh Lee,Fa-Yauh Lee,G. E. Barden,G. E. Barden,Richard W. Cartun,A. B. West +6 more
TL;DR: In cirrhotic rats, bacterial translocation is increased after the development of ascites and may be a major factor in theDevelopment of spontaneous infections in cirrhosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma: Assessment of eleven staging systems.
Po Hong Liu,Po Hong Liu,Chia Yang Hsu,Chia Yang Hsu,Cheng Yuan Hsia,Cheng Yuan Hsia,Yun Hsuan Lee,Yun Hsuan Lee,Chien Wei Su,Chien Wei Su,Yi Hsiang Huang,Yi Hsiang Huang,Fa-Yauh Lee,Fa-Yauh Lee,Han-Chieh Lin,Han-Chieh Lin,Teh Ia Huo,Teh Ia Huo +17 more
TL;DR: The CLIP staging system is stable and consistently the best prognostic model in all patients and in patients with different viral etiology and treatment strategy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Performance status in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma: Determinants, prognostic impact, and ability to improve the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer system
Chia Yang Hsu,Chia Yang Hsu,Yun Hsuan Lee,Yun Hsuan Lee,Cheng Yuan Hsia,Cheng Yuan Hsia,Yi Hsiang Huang,Yi Hsiang Huang,Chien Wei Su,Chien Wei Su,Han-Chieh Lin,Han-Chieh Lin,Rheun Chuan Lee,Rheun Chuan Lee,Yi You Chiou,Yi You Chiou,Fa-Yauh Lee,Fa-Yauh Lee,Teh Ia Huo,Teh Ia Huo +19 more
TL;DR: In the Cox proportional hazards model, performance status was an independent prognostic predictor and the long‐term survival tended to be worse in patients with progressively poor performance status and the lowest AIC among the four BCLC‐based staging systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
The role of nitric oxide in the vascular hyporesponsiveness to methoxamine in portal hypertensive rats.
Fa-Yauh Lee,Fa-Yauh Lee,Agustín Albillos,Agustín Albillos,Luis A. Colombato,Luis A. Colombato,Roberto J. Groszmann,Roberto J. Groszmann +7 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that a vascular hyporesponsiveness to methoxamine is present in portal vein—ligated rats and that this hyporeSponsiveness is reversed by blockade of nitric oxide, which suggests that nitricoxide plays an important role in the arterial vasodilation observed in portal hypertensive states.
