Journal ArticleDOI
Bread enriched with cricket powder (Acheta domesticus): A technological, microbiological and nutritional evaluation
Andrea Osimani,Vesna Milanović,Federica Cardinali,Andrea Roncolini,Cristiana Garofalo,Francesca Clementi,Marina Pasquini,Massimo Mozzon,Roberta Foligni,Nadia Raffaelli,Federica Zamporlini,Lucia Aquilanti +11 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that edible insects powder can successfully be included in leavened baked goods to enhance their protein content, proving that edible Insects can constitute a novel source of innovative ingredients to be used in bread making.
Journal ArticleDOI
Protein fortification with mealworm (Tenebrio molitor L.) powder: Effect on textural, microbiological, nutritional and sensory features of bread.
Andrea Roncolini,Vesna Milanović,Federica Cardinali,Andrea Osimani,Cristiana Garofalo,Riccardo Sabbatini,Francesca Clementi,Marina Pasquini,Massimo Mozzon,Roberta Foligni,Nadia Raffaelli,Federica Zamporlini,Gabriele Minazzato,Maria Federica Trombetta,Anse Van Buitenen,Leen Van Campenhout,Lucia Aquilanti +16 more
TL;DR: Results of sensory analyses revealed that protein fortification of bread with MP significantly affected bread texture and overall liking, as well as crust colour, depending on the substitution level, suggesting that the production of breads with MP might easily be scaled up at industrial level.
Journal ArticleDOI
NMN Deamidase Delays Wallerian Degeneration and Rescues Axonal Defects Caused by NMNAT2 Deficiency In Vivo.
Michele Di Stefano,Michele Di Stefano,Andrea Loreto,Andrea Loreto,Giuseppe Orsomando,Valerio Mori,Federica Zamporlini,Richard P. Hulse,Jamie R.M. Webster,Lucy F. Donaldson,Martin Gering,Nadia Raffaelli,Michael P. Coleman,Michael P. Coleman,Jonathan Gilley,Jonathan Gilley,Laura Conforti +16 more
TL;DR: NMN deamidase reduces NMN accumulation in injured mouse sciatic nerves and preserves some axons for up to three weeks, even when expressed at a low level, and rescues axonal outgrowth and perinatal lethality in a dose-dependent manner in mice lacking NMNAT2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antitumor effect of combined NAMPT and CD73 inhibition in an ovarian cancer model
Giovanna Sociali,Lizzia Raffaghello,Mirko Magnone,Federica Zamporlini,Laura Emionite,Laura Sturla,Giovanna Bianchi,Tiziana Vigliarolo,Aimable Nahimana,Alessio Nencioni,Nadia Raffaelli,Santina Bruzzone +11 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that the pharmacological inhibition of CD73 enzymatic activity could be considered as a means to potentiate the anti-cancer effects of NAMPT inhibitors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of the Nicotinamide Salvage Pathway as a New Toxification Route for Antimetabolites
Daniela Buonvicino,Francesca Mazzola,Federica Zamporlini,Francesco Resta,Giuseppe Antonio Ranieri,Emidio Camaioni,Mirko Muzzi,Riccardo Zecchi,Giuseppe Pieraccini,Christian Dölle,Massimo Calamante,Gianluca Bartolucci,Mathias Ziegler,Barbara Stecca,Nadia Raffaelli,Alberto Chiarugi +15 more
TL;DR: The identification of Vacor as a substrate metabolized by the consecutive action of NAMPT and NMNAT2 into the NAD analog Vacor adenine dinucleotide (VAD) causes unprecedented rapid NAD depletion, glycolytic block, energy failure, and necrotic death of NM NAT2-proficient cancer cells.
