Journal ArticleDOI

Protein fortification with mealworm (Tenebrio molitor L.) powder: Effect on textural, microbiological, nutritional and sensory features of bread.

TL;DR: Results of sensory analyses revealed that protein fortification of bread with MP significantly affected bread texture and overall liking, as well as crust colour, depending on the substitution level, suggesting that the production of breads with MP might easily be scaled up at industrial level.
Journal ArticleDOI

Extracellular nicotinate phosphoribosyltransferase binds Toll like receptor 4 and mediates inflammation

TL;DR: Nicotinate phosphoribosyltransferase (NAPRT) can be detected extracellularly, binds to Toll like receptor 4, and activates NF-kB signaling and cytokine production in macrophage via NAD synthesis-independent pathways, identifying NAPRT as a endogenous ligand for TLR4 and a mediator of inflammation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Functional characterization of COG1713 (YqeK) as a novel diadenosine tetraphosphate hydrolase family

TL;DR: The orphan YqeK protein family (COG1713) is identified as an unprecedented class of symmetrically-cleaving Ap4A hydrolase family, with members distributed in a consistent group of bacterial species that lack the ApaH enzyme.
Journal ArticleDOI

Exploratory study on the occurrence and dynamics of yeast-mediated nicotinamide riboside production in craft beers

TL;DR: Nicotinamide riboside (NR), a form of vitamin B3, and its precursors nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) and NAD+ were quantitated by a fluorometric assay in ten commercial craft beers and throughout the fermentation process of a laboratory-scale beer.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Versatile Continuous Fluorometric Enzymatic Assay for Targeting Nicotinate Phosphoribosyltransferase

TL;DR: In this article , a continuous coupled fluorometric assay was proposed for detecting NAMPT inhibitors, where the product of the NAPRT-catalyzed reaction is enzymatically converted to NADH, and NADH formation is measured fluorometrically.
