Journal ArticleDOI
The landing(s) of Philae and inferences about comet surface mechanical properties
Jens Biele,Stephan Ulamec,Michael Maibaum,Reinhard Roll,Lars Witte,Eric Jurado,Pablo Muñoz,Pablo Muñoz,Walter Arnold,Hans-Ulrich Auster,Carlos M. Casas,Carlos M. Casas,Claudia Faber,Cinzia Fantinati,Felix Finke,Hans-Herbert Fischer,Koen Geurts,Carsten Güttler,Philip Heinisch,Alain Herique,Stubbe F. Hviid,Günter Kargl,Martin Knapmeyer,Jörg Knollenberg,Wlodek Kofman,Norbert I. Kömle,Ekkehard Kührt,Valentina Lommatsch,Stefano Mottola,Ramon Pardo de Santayana,Ramon Pardo de Santayana,Emile Remetean,Frank Scholten,Klaus J. Seidensticker,Holger Sierks,Tilman Spohn +35 more
TL;DR: The precise circumstances of the multiple landings of Philae, including the bouncing trajectory and rebound parameters, are reported, based on engineering data in conjunction with operational instrument data, which provide information on the mechanical properties of the comet surface.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rosetta Lander - Landing and operations on comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko
Stephan Ulamec,Cinzia Fantinati,Michael Maibaum,Koen Geurts,Jens Biele,Sven Jansen,Oliver Küchemann,Barbara Cozzoni,Felix Finke,Valentina Lommatsch,Aurelie Moussi-Soffys,Cedric Delmas,Laurence O´Rourke +12 more
TL;DR: The Rosetta Lander Philae is part of the ESA Rosetta Mission which reached comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko after a 10 year cruise in August 2014.
Journal ArticleDOI
The SESAME/CASSE instrument listening to the MUPUS PEN insertion phase on comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko
Martin Knapmeyer,Hans-Herbert Fischer,Jörg Knollenberg,K. J. Seidensticker,K. Thiel,Walter Arnold,Walter Arnold,Walter Schmidt,C. Faber,Felix Finke,D. Möhlmann +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors focus on the technical and operational aspects of this experiment and provide several lessons that might be useful for the development of similar experiments on future spacecraft on comet 67/P Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reconstruction of the flight and attitude of Rosetta's lander Philae
Philip Heinisch,Hans-Ulrich Auster,Dirk Plettemeier,Wlodek Kofman,Alain Herique,Christoph Statz,Ronny Hahnel,Yves Rogez,Ingo Richter,Martin Hilchenbach,Eric Jurado,Romain Garmier,Thierry Martin,Felix Finke,Carsten Güttler,Holger Sierks,Karl-Heinz Glassmeier +16 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors combined all the different results to determine in further detail what happened to Rosetta's lander Philae during its travel above the surface of 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko.
Journal ArticleDOI
Corrigendum to “The SESAME/CASSE instrument listening to the MUPUS PEN insertion phase on comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko” [Acta Astronaut., DOI: 10.1016/j.actaastro.2016.02.018]
Martin Knapmeyer,Hans-Herbert Fischer,Jörg Knollenberg,K. J. Seidensticker,K. Thiel,Walter Arnold,Walter Arnold,Walter Schmidt,C. Faber,Felix Finke,D. Möhlmann +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the table 2 of the paper mentioned in the title is erroneous, this corrigendum gives the correct table, see Section 2.2.1 for a correction.
