Journal ArticleDOI
IL-22 is increased in active Crohn's disease and promotes proinflammatory gene expression and intestinal epithelial cell migration.
Stephan Brand,Florian Beigel,Torsten Olszak,Kathrin Zitzmann,Sören T. Eichhorst,Jan-Michel Otte,Helmut M. Diepolder,Andreas Marquardt,Wolfgang Jagla,Andreas Popp,Stéphane Leclair,Karin A. Herrmann,Julia Seiderer,Thomas Ochsenkühn,Burkhard Göke,Christoph J. Auernhammer,Julia Dambacher +16 more
TL;DR: IL-22 is increased in active Crohn's disease and promotes proinflammatory gene expression and IEC migration, which suggests an important function in intestinal inflammation and wound healing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk of lymphoma in patients with inflammatory bowel disease treated with azathioprine and 6-mercaptopurine: a meta-analysis.
David Kotlyar,David Kotlyar,James D. Lewis,Laurent Beaugerie,Ann Tierney,Colleen M. Brensinger,Javier P. Gisbert,Edward V. Loftus,Laurent Peyrin-Biroulet,Wojciech Blonski,Wojciech Blonski,Manuel Van Domselaar,María Chaparro,Sandipani Sandilya,Meenakshi Bewtra,Florian Beigel,Livia Biancone,Gary R. Lichtenstein +17 more
TL;DR: Compared with studies from referral centers, population-based studies of IBD patients show a lower but significantly increased risk of lymphoma among patients taking thiopurines, and the increased risk does not appear to persist after discontinuation of therapy.
Risk of Lymphoma in Patients With Inflammatory Bowel Disease Treated With Azathioprine and 6-Mercaptopurine:
David Kotlyar,James D. Lewis,Laurent Beaugerie,Colleen M. Brensinger,Javier P. Gisbert,Edward V. Loftus,Laurent Peyrin-Biroulet,Wojciech Blonski,Manuel Van Domselaar,Meenakshi Bewtra,Florian Beigel,Livia Biancone,Gary R. Lichtenstein +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the relative risk of lymphoma in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) exposed to thiopurines and compared relative risk values derived from population-based studies with those from referral center based studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anti-TNF antibody-induced psoriasiform skin lesions in patients with inflammatory bowel disease are characterised by interferon-γ-expressing Th1 cells and IL-17A/IL-22-expressing Th17 cells and respond to anti-IL-12/IL-23 antibody treatment
Cornelia Tillack,Laura Maximiliane Ehmann,Matthias Friedrich,Ruediger P. Laubender,Pavol Papay,Harald Vogelsang,Johannes Stallhofer,Florian Beigel,Andrea Bedynek,Martin Wetzke,Martin Wetzke,Harald Maier,Maria Koburger,Johanna Wagner,J. Glas,J. Glas,Julia Diegelmann,Sarah Koglin,Yvonne Dombrowski,Yvonne Dombrowski,Juergen Schauber,Andreas Wollenberg,Stephan Brand +22 more
TL;DR: New onset psoriasiform skin lesions develop in nearly 5% of anti-TNF-treated patients with IBD, and smoking is identified as a main risk factor for developing these lesions.
Journal ArticleDOI
The role of the novel Th17 cytokine IL-26 in intestinal inflammation
Julia Dambacher,Florian Beigel,Kathrin Zitzmann,E N De Toni,Burkhard Göke,Helmut M. Diepolder,Christoph J. Auernhammer,Stephan Brand +7 more
TL;DR: IL-26 modulates IEC proliferation and proinflammatory gene expression and its expression is upregulated in active Crohn’s disease, indicating a role for this cytokine system in the innate host cell response during intestinal inflammation.
