Linking Long-Term Dietary Patterns with Gut Microbial Enterotypes
Gary D. Wu,Jun Chen,Christian Hoffmann,Christian Hoffmann,Kyle Bittinger,Ying-Yu Chen,Sue A. Keilbaugh,Meenakshi Bewtra,Dan Knights,William A. Walters,Rob Knight,Rohini Sinha,Erin Gilroy,Kernika Gupta,Robert N. Baldassano,Lisa Nessel,Hongzhe Li,Frederic D. Bushman,James D. Lewis +18 more
TL;DR: Alternative enterotype states are associated with long-term diet, particularly protein and animal fat (Bacteroides) versus carbohydrates (Prevotella) and other enterotypes distinguished primarily by levels of Bacteroide and Prevotella.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lectin-type oxidized LDL receptor-1 distinguishes population of human polymorphonuclear myeloid-derived suppressor cells in cancer patients

Rustgi,Neil Hockstein,Robert L Witt,Gregory A. Masters,Brian Nam,Denis Smirnov,Manuel A. Sepulveda,Dmitry I. Gabrilovich +29 more
TL;DR: A specific marker of human PMN-MDSC associated with ER stress and lipid metabolism is identified, which provides new insights into the biology and potential therapeutic targeting of these cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Risk of lymphoma in patients with inflammatory bowel disease treated with azathioprine and 6-mercaptopurine: a meta-analysis.
David Kotlyar,David Kotlyar,James D. Lewis,Laurent Beaugerie,Ann Tierney,Colleen M. Brensinger,Javier P. Gisbert,Edward V. Loftus,Laurent Peyrin-Biroulet,Wojciech Blonski,Wojciech Blonski,Manuel Van Domselaar,María Chaparro,Sandipani Sandilya,Meenakshi Bewtra,Florian Beigel,Livia Biancone,Gary R. Lichtenstein +17 more
TL;DR: Compared with studies from referral centers, population-based studies of IBD patients show a lower but significantly increased risk of lymphoma among patients taking thiopurines, and the increased risk does not appear to persist after discontinuation of therapy.
Risk of Lymphoma in Patients With Inflammatory Bowel Disease Treated With Azathioprine and 6-Mercaptopurine:
David Kotlyar,James D. Lewis,Laurent Beaugerie,Colleen M. Brensinger,Javier P. Gisbert,Edward V. Loftus,Laurent Peyrin-Biroulet,Wojciech Blonski,Manuel Van Domselaar,Meenakshi Bewtra,Florian Beigel,Livia Biancone,Gary R. Lichtenstein +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the relative risk of lymphoma in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) exposed to thiopurines and compared relative risk values derived from population-based studies with those from referral center based studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Histone deacetylase 3 coordinates commensal-bacteria-dependent intestinal homeostasis
Theresa Alenghat,Lisa C. Osborne,Steven A. Saenz,Dmytro Kobuley,Carly G. K. Ziegler,Shannon E. Mullican,Inchan Choi,Stephanie Grunberg,Rohini Sinha,Meghan A. Wynosky-Dolfi,Annelise G. Snyder,Paul R. Giacomin,Karen L. Joyce,Tram B. Hoang,Meenakshi Bewtra,Igor E. Brodsky,Gregory F. Sonnenberg,Frederic D. Bushman,Kyoung-Jae Won,Mitchell A. Lazar,David Artis +20 more
TL;DR: Re-derivation of HDAC3ΔIEC mice into germ-free conditions revealed that dysregulated IEC gene expression, Paneth cell homeostasis and intestinal barrier function were largely restored in the absence of commensal bacteria.
