The extreme physical properties of the CoRoT-7b super-Earth
A. Léger,Olivier Grasset,Bruce Fegley,Francis Codron,A.F. Albarede,Pierre Barge,Rory Barnes,P. Cance,S. Carpy,Franco Catalano,C. Cavarroc,Olivier Demangeon,Sylvio Ferraz-Mello,Pavel Gabor,Jean-Mathias Grießmeier,John Leibacher,Guy Libourel,A. S. Maurin,Sean N. Raymond,D. Rouan,B. Samuel,Laura Schaefer,Jean Schneider,Peter A. Schuller,Franck Selsis,Christophe Sotin +25 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors make the working hypothesis that CoRoT-7b is a rocky super-Earth with no volatiles in its atmosphere, and derive the physical properties that result.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The Earth system model EC-Earth3 for contributions to CMIP6 is documented in this paper , with its flexible coupling framework, major model configurations, a methodology for ensuring the simulations are comparable across different high-performance computing (HPC) systems, and with the physical performance of base configurations over the historical period.
Journal ArticleDOI
Seasonal climate forecasts for medium-term electricity demand forecasting
TL;DR: In this paper, an assessment of the use of seasonal climate forecasts of temperature for medium-term electricity demand prediction is presented for the first time, where the authors find a relationship between summer average temperature patterns over Europe and Italian electricity demand using both a linear and non-linear regression approach.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated here that EC-Earth3 is suited for a range of tasks in CMIP6 and beyond, and key performance metrics demonstrate physical behaviour and biases well within the frame known from recent CMIP models.
Journal ArticleDOI
Large-eddy simulation of the daytime boundary layer in an idealized valley using the weather research and forecasting numerical model
Franco Catalano,Chin-Hoh Moeng +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a three-dimensional numerical meteorological model is used to perform large-eddy simulations of the upslope flow circulation over a periodic ridge-valley terrain.
