ERS technical standard on bronchial challenge testing: General considerations and performance of methacholine challenge tests
Allan L. Coates,J. Wanger,Donald W. Cockcroft,Bruce H. Culver,Kai-Håkon Carlsen,Zuzana Diamant,Zuzana Diamant,Gail M. Gauvreau,Graham L. Hall,Teal S. Hallstrand,Ildiko Horvath,Frans H.C. de Jongh,Guy Joos,David A. Kaminsky,Beth L. Laube,Joerg D. Leuppi,Peter J. Sterk +16 more
TL;DR: This international task force report updates general considerations for bronchial challenge testing and the performance of the methacholine challenge test to include notable changes from prior recommendations in order to accommodate newer delivery devices.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical and inflammatory phenotyping by breathomics in chronic airway diseases irrespective of the diagnostic label.
Rianne de Vries,Yennece W.F. Dagelet,Pien Spoor,Erik Snoey,Patrick M.C. Jak,Paul Brinkman,Erica Dijkers,S.K. Bootsma,Fred Elskamp,Frans H.C. de Jongh,Eric G. Haarman,Johannes C C M In 't Veen,Anke-Hilse Maitland-van der Zee,Peter J. Sterk +13 more
TL;DR: P Phenotyping a combined sample of asthma and COPD patients using eNose provides validated clusters that are not determined by diagnosis, but rather by clinical/inflammatory characteristics, which qualify for rapid clinical/ inflammatory phenotyping of chronic airway disease at the point of care.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sleep Position Trainer versus Tennis Ball Technique in Positional Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome
Michiel Eijsvogel,Rinse Ubbink,Janita Dekker,Eline Oppersma,Frans H.C. de Jongh,Job van der Palen,Marjolein Brusse-Keizer +6 more
TL;DR: In mild POSAS with normal EES the new SPT device and the standard TBT are equally effective in reducing respiratory indices, however, compared to the TBT, sleep quality, quality of life, and compliance improved significantly more in the SPT group.
Journal ArticleDOI
ERS technical standard on bronchial challenge testing: Pathophysiology and methodology of indirect airway challenge testing
Teal S. Hallstrand,Joerg D. Leuppi,Guy Joos,Graham L. Hall,Kai-Håkon Carlsen,David A. Kaminsky,Allan L. Coates,Donald W. Cockcroft,Bruce H. Culver,Zuzana Diamant,Zuzana Diamant,Gail M. Gauvreau,Ildiko Horvath,Frans H.C. de Jongh,Beth L. Laube,Peter J. Sterk,J. Wanger +16 more
TL;DR: An updated description of the pathophysiology and the methods to conduct indirect challenge tests for asthma and recommendations for the conduct and interpretation of hyperpnoea challenge tests such as dry air exercise challenge and eucapnic voluntary hyperPNoea that provide a single strong stimulus for airway narrowing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in Lung Volume and Ventilation during Lung Recruitment in High-Frequency Ventilated Preterm Infants with Respiratory Distress Syndrome
Martijn Miedema,Frans H.C. de Jongh,Inéz Frerichs,Mariëtte B. van Veenendaal,Anton H. van Kaam +4 more
TL;DR: Lung hysteresis is present in preterm infants with respiratory distress syndrome and regional differences in lung volume changes and ventilation during high-frequency oscillatory ventilation with lung recruitment are relatively modest and do not follow a gravity-dependent distribution.
