Journal ArticleDOI

Identification and characterization of a novel human plant pathogenesis-related protein that localizes to lipid-enriched microdomains in the Golgi complex

TL;DR: The identification of a novel family member that localizes to the cytosolic site of the endomembrane system in mammalian cells and myristoylation is reported, which could indicate that GAPR-1 is involved in the immune system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Human CLP36, a PDZ-domain and LIM-domain protein, binds to α-actinin-1 and associates with actin filaments and stress fibers in activated platelets and endothelial cells

TL;DR: The study shows that CLP36 associates with actin filaments and stress fibers that are formed during shape change and spreading of platelets and during migration and contraction of endothelial cells, and suggests that this association might modulate the function of alpha-actinin-1.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mitochondrial protein turnover: role of the precursor intermediate peptidase Oct1 in protein stabilization

TL;DR: It is shown that Oct1 removes destabilizing residues from import intermediates generated by MPP and therefore acts as a quality control system, preventing premature substrate degradation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Recombinant human and rat ciliary neurotrophic factors.

TL;DR: The human ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF) gene was identified and cloned, based on homology with the recently cloned rat cDNA, and appears to contain a single intron separating two protein coding exons.
Journal ArticleDOI

Amino acid sequence of the cytochrome subunit of the photosynthetic reaction centre from the purple bacterium Rhodopseudomonas viridis.

TL;DR: The complete nucleotide sequence of the gene encoding the cytochrome subunit of the photosynthetic reaction centre from the purple bacterium Rhodopseudomonas viridis, and the derived amino acid sequence are presented.
