Journal ArticleDOI
Isospin dependence of intermediate mass fragment production in heavy-ion collisions at E/A=55 MeV.
J. Dempsey,R. J. Charity,L. G. Sobotka,G. J. Kunde,S. J. Gaff,C. K. Gelbke,T. Glasmacher,M. J. Huang,R. Lemmon,W. G. Lynch,L. Manduci,L. Martin,M. B. Tsang,Dileep Agnihotri,B. Djerroud,W. U. Schröder,W. Skulski,Jan Toke,W. A. Friedman +18 more
TL;DR: The observations of this work suggest that the intermediate mass fragments are, to amore » large extent, formed by multiple neck rupture of the overlap material, a process which might enhance the neutron-to-proton ratio of the primary source material and/or limit the size of the sources.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fragment flow and the multifragmentation phase space.
G. J. Kunde,W. C. Hsi,W. D. Kunze,A. Schüttauf,A. Wörner,M. L. Begemann-Blaich,Th. Blaich,D. R. Bowman,R. J. Charity,A. Cosmo,A. Ferrero,C. K. Gelbke,J. Hubele,G. Imme,I. Iori,P. Kreutz,V. Lindenstruth,M. A. Lisa,W. G. Lynch,U. Lynen,M. Mang,T. Möhlenkamp,A. Moroni,Wolfgang Müller,M. Neumann,B. Ocker,C. A. Ogilvie,Graham F. Peaslee,J. Pochodzalla,G. Raciti,T. Rubehn,H. Sann,W. TL;DR: Within a coalescence picture the suppression of heavy fragments in central collisions at [ital E]/[ital A]=100 MeV may be related to a reduction of the density in momentum space which is caused by the collective expansion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fragment Distributions for Highly Charged Systems
C. Williams,W. G. Lynch,Cornelius Schwarz,M. B. Tsang,W.-c. Hsi,M. J. Huang,D. R. Bowman,J. D. Dinius,C. K. Gelbke,D. O. Handzy,G. J. Kunde,M. A. Lisa,Graham F. Peaslee,L. W. Phair,A. S. Botvina,M-C. Lemaire,S. R. Souza,G. Van Buren,R. J. Charity,L. G. Sobotka,U. Lynen,J. Pochodzalla,H. Sann,W. Trautmann,D. Fox,R. T. de Souza,N. Carlin +26 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors extracted charge and transverse energy distributions for intermediate mass fragments for central Kr1Au collisions at E/A5352400 MeV and showed that the slopes of the measured fragment charge distributions decrease monotonically with incident energy, consistent with the expectations for highly charged systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multifragment Production in Reactions of 112Sn+112Sn and 124Sn+124Sn at E/A=40 MeV.
G. J. Kunde,S. J. Gaff,C. K. Gelbke,T. Glasmacher,M. J. Huang,R. Lemmon,W. G. Lynch,L. Manduci,L. Martin,M. B. Tsang,W. A. Friedman,J. Dempsey,R. J. Charity,L. G. Sobotka,Dileep Agnihotri,B. Djerroud,W. U. Schröder,W. Skulski,Jan Toke,K. Wyrozebski +19 more
TL;DR: In this article, the multiplicities of intermediate-mass fragments (IMFs), neutrons, and charged particles were measured for an expanding evaporating source for which the initial rates of cooling by neutron and light-charged-particle emission depend on the neutron and proton numbers of the source according to statistical expectations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mass Dependence of Directed Collective Flow.
M. J. Huang,R. Lemmon,F. Daffin,W. G. Lynch,C. Schwarz,M. B. Tsang,C. Williams,Pawel Danielewicz,Kevin Haglin,Wolfgang Bauer,N. Carlin,R. J. Charity,R. T. de Souza,C. K. Gelbke,W. C. Hsi,W. C. Hsi,G. J. Kunde,M-C. Lemaire,M. A. Lisa,U. Lynen,Graham F. Peaslee,J. Pochodzalla,H. Sann,L. G. Sobotka,S. R. Souza,W. Trautmann +25 more
TL;DR: Direct sidewards flow is considered as an important signature of nuclear compression and thus is sensitive to the nuclear equation of state, and reflects the interplay of collective and random motions.
