Event Horizon Telescope observations of the jet launching and collimation in Centaurus A

Michael Janssen, +238 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a very long-baseline interferometry (VLBI) image of Centaurus A's jet at a tenfold higher frequency and sixteen times sharper resolution was obtained with the Event Horizon Telescope.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modeling COVID-19 Dynamics in Illinois under Nonpharmaceutical Interventions

TL;DR: In this paper, a non-Markovian age-of-infection model is used to model the COVID-19 epidemic in Illinois, capturing the implementation of a stay-at-home order and scenarios for its eventual release.

Persistent heterogeneity not short-term overdispersion determines herd immunity to COVID-19

TL;DR: The authors' estimates suggest that the hardest-hit areas, such as NYC, are close to the heterogeneity-modified herd immunity threshold following the first wave of the epidemic, which is fragile as it wanes over time if the pattern of social interactions changes substantially.
Journal ArticleDOI

Millimeter Light Curves of Sagittarius A* Observed during the 2017 Event Horizon Telescope Campaign

Maciek Wielgus, +266 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) observed the Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*) in the Galactic Center on 2017 April 5-11 in the 1.3 mm wavelength band.
