Photon Ring Symmetries in Simulated Linear Polarization Images of Messier 87*

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors decompose photon half- orbits in the EHT library of simulated images of the M 87* accretion system and find that highly lensed indirect subimages are almost completely depolarized, causing a modest depolarization of the photon ring region in the complete image.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Polarized Image of a Synchrotron Emitting Ring of Gas Orbiting a Black Hole

Ramesh Narayan, +237 more
TL;DR: In this article, a simple model of an axisymmetric, equatorial accretion disk around a Schwarzschild black hole is proposed to predict the image polarization. But the model is not suitable for the case of a single image.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Polarized Image of a Synchrotron-emitting Ring of Gas Orbiting a Black Hole

Ramesh Narayan, +293 more
TL;DR: In this article, a simple model of an axisymmetric, equatorial accretion disk around a Schwarzschild black hole was proposed to predict the polarimetric image morphology.

Mitigation of SARS-CoV-2 Transmission at a Large Public University

Diana Rose E. Ranoa, +150 more
- 05 Aug 2021 -
TL;DR: In this article, a multimodal "SHIELD: Target, Test, and Tell" program mitigated the spread of SARS-CoV-2 at a large public university, prevented community transmission, and allowed continuation of in-person classes amidst the pandemic.
