Journal ArticleDOI
Foreground simulations for the LOFAR-epoch of reionization experiment
Vibor Jelić,Saleem Zaroubi,Panagiotis Labropoulos,Rajat M. Thomas,Gianni Bernardi,Michiel A. Brentjens,de Antonius Bruyn,de Antonius Bruyn,B. Ciardi,Geraint Harker,Luitje Koopmans,Vishambhar Pandey,Joop Schaye,Sarod Yatawatta +13 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present simulated astrophysical foregrounds data cubes and discuss their possible statistical effects on the data, and show that with the expected LOFAR-EoR sky and receiver noise levels, which amount to approximate to 52 mK at 150 MHz after 400 h of total observing time, a simple polynomial fit allows a statistical reconstruction of the signal.
Journal ArticleDOI
Upper limits on the 21 cm Epoch of Reionization power spectrum from one night with LOFAR
A. H. Patil,Sarod Yatawatta,Léon V. E. Koopmans,A. G. de Bruyn,Michiel A. Brentjens,Saleem Zaroubi,K. M. B. Asad,K. M. B. Asad,M. Hatef,Vibor Jelić,Maaijke Mevius,A. R. Offringa,Vishambhar Pandey,Harish Vedantham,F. B. Abdalla,F. B. Abdalla,W. N. Brouw,Emma Chapman,Emma Chapman,B. Ciardi,B. K. Gehlot,Abhik Ghosh,Geraint Harker,Geraint Harker,Ilian T. Iliev,Koki Kakiichi,Suman Majumdar,Garrelt Mellema,Marta B. Silva,Joop Schaye,Damir Vrbanec,Stefan J. Wijnholds +31 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the first limits on the Epoch of Reionization 21 cm H I power spectra, in the redshift range z = 7.9 −10.6, using the Low-Frequency Array (LOFAR) High-Band Antenna (HBA).
Journal ArticleDOI
A marked correlation function analysis of halo formation times in the Millennium Simulation
TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the environmental dependence of the formation epoch of dark matter haloes in the Millennium Simulation, a ten billion particle N-body simulation of standard Lambda cold dark matter cosmology.
Journal ArticleDOI
Foreground simulations for the LOFAR - Epoch of Reionization Experiment
Vibor Jelić,Saleem Zaroubi,Panagiotis Labropoulos,Rajat M. Thomas,Gianni Bernardi,Michiel A. Brentjens,Ger de Bruyn,Benedetta Ciardi,Geraint Harker,Léon V. E. Koopmans,Vishambhar Pandey,Joop Schaye,Sarod Yatawatta +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present simulated astrophysical foregrounds datacubes and discuss their possible statistical effects on the data and show that with the expected LOFAR-EoR sky and receiver noise levels, which amount to ~52 mK at 150 MHz after 300 hours of total observing time, a simple polynomial fit allows a statistical reconstruction of the signal.
Journal ArticleDOI
Foregrounds for observations of the cosmological 21 cm line - I. First Westerbork measurements of Galactic emission at 150 MHz in a low latitude field
Gianni Bernardi,de Antonius Bruyn,de Antonius Bruyn,Michiel A. Brentjens,Benedetta Ciardi,Geraint Harker,Vibor Jelić,Léon V. E. Koopmans,Panagiotis Labropoulos,A. R. Offringa,V. N. Pandey,Joop Schaye,Rajat M. Thomas,Sarod Yatawatta,Saleem Zaroubi +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, a series of observations were conducted with the Westerbork telescope in the 140-160 MHz range with a 2 arcmin resolution aimed at characterizing the properties of the foregrounds for epoch of reionization experiments.
