Journal ArticleDOI

Improvement of PCR amplified DNA sequencing with the aid of detergents.

TL;DR: The highest intensity of the signals and the lowest background at specific positions were found in the sequences obtained with NP40 or with the combination of NP40 and Tween 20, presumably due to the prevention of secondary structure formation and the suppression of DNA-annealing by detergents.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rapid infection of oral mucosal-associated lymphoid tissue with simian immunodeficiency virus.

TL;DR: Analyses by virologic assays and in situ hybridization revealed that the infection started locally in the tonsils, a mucosal-associated lymphoid organ, and quickly spread to other lymphoid tissues.
Journal ArticleDOI

Association between fulminant hepatic failure and a strain of GBV virus C

TL;DR: The frequency of GBV-C RNA is higher in fulminan hepatic failure than in any other group of patients with hepatitis, particularly in patients with fulminant hepatitis B or fulminants non-A-E hepatitis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Detection of serum antibodies to adult T‐cell leukemia virus in non‐human primates and in people from Africa

TL;DR: The distribution of serum antibodies to adult T‐cell leukemia virus (ATLV) was examined as a marker for virus infection among non‐human primates as well as people from Africa and Germany.
