Journal ArticleDOI
Airborne Transmission Route of COVID-19: Why 2 Meters/6 Feet of Inter-Personal Distance Could Not Be Enough.
Leonardo Setti,Fabrizio Passarini,Gianluigi de Gennaro,Pierluigi Barbieri,Maria Grazia Perrone,Massimo Borelli,Jolanda Palmisani,Alessia Di Gilio,Prisco Piscitelli,Alessandro Miani +9 more
TL;DR: On-field studies carried out inside Wuhan Hospitals showed the presence of SARS-COV-2 RNA in air samples collected in the hospitals and also in the surroundings, leading to the conclusion that the airborne route has to be considered an important pathway for viral diffusion.
Journal ArticleDOI
SARS-Cov-2RNA found on particulate matter of Bergamo in Northern Italy: First evidence.
Leonardo Setti,Fabrizio Passarini,Gianluigi de Gennaro,Pierluigi Barbieri,Maria Grazia Perrone,Massimo Borelli,Jolanda Palmisani,Alessia Di Gilio,Valentina Torboli,Francesco Fontana,Libera Clemente,Alberto Pallavicini,Maurizio Ruscio,Prisco Piscitelli,Alessandro Miani +14 more
TL;DR: This is the first evidence that SARS-CoV-2 RNA can be present on PM, thus suggesting a possible use as indicator of epidemic recurrence and confirming or excluding this research hyphotesys.
Journal ArticleDOI
Analysis of local scale tree-atmosphere interaction on pollutant concentration in idealized street canyons and application to a real urban junction
Riccardo Buccolieri,Salim Mohamed Salim,Laura S. Leo,Silvana Di Sabatino,Andy Chan,Pierina Ielpo,Gianluigi de Gennaro,CB Christof Gromke +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the aerodynamic effects of trees on local scale flow and pollutant concentration in idealized street canyon configurations by means of laboratory experiments and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
Journal ArticleDOI
Odour detection methods: olfactometry and chemical sensors
M. Brattoli,Gianluigi de Gennaro,Valentina de Pinto,Annamaria Demarinis Loiotile,Sara Lovascio,Michele Penza +5 more
TL;DR: This review examines the state of the art of both human and instrumental sensing currently used for the detection of odours and the main features and the working principles of modern electronic noses (E-Noses) are described, focusing on their better performances for environmental analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Potential role of particulate matter in the spreading of COVID-19 in Northern Italy: first observational study based on initial epidemic diffusion
Leonardo Setti,Fabrizio Passarini,Gianluigi de Gennaro,Pierluigi Barbieri,Sabina Licen,Maria Grazia Perrone,Andrea Piazzalunga,Massimo Borelli,Jolanda Palmisani,Alessia Di Gilio,Emanuele Rizzo,Annamaria Colao,Prisco Piscitelli,Alessandro Miani +13 more
TL;DR: A significant association has been found between the geographical distribution of daily PM10 exceedances and the initial spreading of COVID-19 in the 110 Italian provinces.
