A novel spectroscopic approach to investigate transport processes in polymers: the case of water–epoxy system

TL;DR: In this paper, an experimental approach, based on in situ FTIR spectroscopy in the transmission mode, has been developed to monitor sorption-desorption behavior of small molecules in polymer films.
Journal ArticleDOI

Poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and different molecular weight PEO blends monolithic devices for drug release

TL;DR: An interpretation of the drug release from monolithic water-swellable and soluble polymer tablets is presented, and a convenient parameter, alpha, which compares the drug-diffusive conductance in the gel layer with the swelling and dissolving characteristics of the unpenetrated polymer was used to describe the release behaviour.
Journal ArticleDOI

Processing and shelf life issues of selected food packaging materials and structures from renewable resources

TL;DR: The use of polymers from renewable sources for food packaging applications is steadily growing However, as compared to thermoplastic synthetic polymers, they present problems when processed with traditional technologies and show inferior performances in terms of functional and structural properties as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sodium montmorillonite silylation: Unexpected effect of the aminosilane chain length

TL;DR: It was found that the degree of silylation of Na-MMT increases with increasing the length of the aminosilane organic moieties, the overall aminoilane concentration, and temperature, and the same beneficial effects were observed on the silicate d-spacing.
