Journal ArticleDOI
Virulence differences between monkeypox virus isolates from West Africa and the Congo basin.
Nanhai Chen,Guiyun Li,M. Kathryn Liszewski,John P. Atkinson,Peter B. Jahrling,Zehua Feng,Jill Schriewer,Charles Buck,Chunlin Wang,Elliot J. Lefkowitz,Joseph J. Esposito,Tiara Harms,Inger K. Damon,Rachel L. Roper,Chris Upton,R. Mark L. Buller +15 more
TL;DR: Congo basin MPXV-ZAI-V79 is more virulent for cynomolgus monkeys as compared to presumed West African MPxV-COP-58, which may explain the lack of case-fatalities in the U.S. 2003 monkeypox outbreak.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acute Kidney Injury With Tobramycin-Impregnated Bone Cement Spacers in Prosthetic Joint Infections
Elissa S. Y. Aeng,Karen F. Shalansky,Tim T Y Lau,Nadia Zalunardo,Guiyun Li,William R. Bowie,Clive P. Duncan +6 more
TL;DR: Tobramycin ACS is associated with a high risk of acute kidney injury and measures to minimize AKI risk in the perioperative period include early detection through close monitoring of SCr, avoiding use of premanufactured bone cement containing gentamicin, and avoiding potential nephrotoxins within the first 72 hours postoperatively.
Journal ArticleDOI
Complete coding sequences of the rabbitpox virus genome
Guiyun Li,N. Chen,Rachel L. Roper,Zehua Feng,A. Hunter,Maria I. Danila,Elliot J. Lefkowitz,R. M. L. Buller,Chris Upton +8 more
TL;DR: Analysis of the complete coding region of the rabbitpox virus genome was sequenced to permit comparison with sequenced strains of vaccinia virus and other orthopoxviruses and suggests that RPXV has not evolved directly from any of the sequenced VACV strains.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genomic sequence and analysis of a vaccinia virus isolate from a patient with a smallpox vaccine-related complication.
Guiyun Li,Nanhai Chen,Zehua Feng,R. Mark L. Buller,John D. Osborne,Tiara Harms,Inger K. Damon,Chris Upton,David J. Esteban +8 more
TL;DR: The genomic sequence of VACV-DUKE is overall very similar to that of Dryvax® cell culture-derived clonal isolates, supporting the hypothesis that virus from an individual lesion is clonal in origin despite the fact that the vaccine is a mixed population.
Journal ArticleDOI
A prospective cohort study of predictors of upper extremity arteriovenous fistula maturation
Aiza Waheed,Agnes Masengu,Tomas Skala,Guiyun Li,Jacek Jastrzebski,Jacek Jastrzebski,Nadia Zalunardo,Nadia Zalunardo +7 more
TL;DR: Early postoperative nursing assessment was more useful to predict FUSH than FUSH failure, and as such was insufficient in determining which arteriovenous fistulas should be abandoned as many predicted to fail could be salvaged with further intervention.
