ICNIRP Guidelines for limiting exposure to time-varying electric and magnetic fields (1 Hz to 100 kHz).
Jiali Lin,Richard Saunders,Karl Schulmeister,Pier Söderberg,Bruce E. Stuck,A. Swerdlow,Masao Taki,Bernard Veyret,Gunde Ziegelberger,Mike H. Repacholi,R. Matthes,Anders Ahlbom,Kari Jokela,C. Roy +13 more
TL;DR: This publication replaces the low-frequency part of the 1998 guidelines and some guidance in this document is extended to 10 MHz to cover the nervous system effects in this frequency range.
Journal ArticleDOI
International commission on non-ionizing radiation protection.
TL;DR: This document summarizes current capabilities, research and operational priorities, and plans for further studies that were established at the 2015 USGS workshop on quantitative hazard assessments of earthquake-triggered landsliding and liquefaction in the Czech Republic.
Journal ArticleDOI
Childhood leukaemia risks: from unexplained findings near nuclear installations to recommendations for future research.
Dominique Laurier,Bernd Grosche,Anssi Auvinen,Jacqueline Clavel,César Cobaleda,A Dehos,Sabine Hornhardt,Sophie Jacob,Peter Kaatsch,O Kosti,Claudia E. Kuehni,Tracy Lightfoot,Ben D. Spycher,A Van Nieuwenhuyse,Richard Wakeford,Gunde Ziegelberger +15 more
TL;DR: The need for continuous surveillance of childhood leukaemia incidence was highlighted, including a better characterisation of the local population, and the creation of collaborative working groups was recommended for consistency in methodologies and the possibility of combining data for future analyses.
MEETING REPORT Research recommendations toward a better understanding of the causes of childhood leukemia
Gunde Ziegelberger,Christopher Baum,Arndt Borkhardt,C. Cobaleda,Clemens Dasenbrock,A Dehos,Bernd Grosche,Julia Hauer,Sabine Hornhardt,T Jung,Thomas Kammertoens,Isabelle Lagroye,H Lehrach,T Lightfoot,Claudia Rossig,I. Sanchez-Garcia,M Schrappe,Robert K. Slany,M Stanulla,Wolfgang Weiss +19 more
TL;DR: A small expert group met in conclave in July 2010 to define a long-term strategic research agenda toward further clarification of the etiology of childhood leukemia (CL). The motivation and invitation for this project came from the German Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) because radiation experts have been puzzled for some time by epidemiological findings of an increased incidence of CL near German nuclear facilities, as well as by a statistical association with exposure to residential low-frequency magnetic fields as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Research recommendations toward a better understanding of the causes of childhood leukemia
Gunde Ziegelberger,Christopher Baum,Arndt Borkhardt,César Cobaleda,Clemens Dasenbrock,A Dehos,Bernd Grosche,Julia Hauer,Sabine Hornhardt,T Jung,Thomas Kammertoens,Isabelle Lagroye,H Lehrach,T Lightfoot,Mark P. Little,Claudia Rossig,Isidro Sánchez-García,Martin Schrappe,J Schuez,Shabnam Shalapour,Robert K. Slany,Martin Stanulla,Wolfgang Weiss +22 more
TL;DR: Understanding of the causes of CL development requires a broadened, interdisciplinary approach, as both types of exposure deposit far too little energy in cellular DNA and other likely targets to be considered directly causative.
