Journal ArticleDOI

Central or peripheral systolic or pulse pressure: which best relates to target organs and future mortality?

TL;DR: Systolic and pulse pressures relate differently to different target organs and central systolic pressure is more valuable than other blood pressure variables in predicting cardiovascular mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI

Aortic Stiffness Is Associated With Visceral Adiposity in Older Adults Enrolled in the Study of Health, Aging, and Body Composition

TL;DR: Among older adults, higher levels of visceral fat are associated with greater aortic stiffness as measured by pulse wave velocity, and this association was consistent across tertiles of body weight.
Journal ArticleDOI

8-bromo-cGMP reduces the myofilament response to Ca2+ in intact cardiac myocytes.

TL;DR: Analysis of the effects of 8-bromo-cGMP on contraction and simultaneous intracellular Ca2+ transients in intact adult rat ventricular myocytes indicates that cGMP may modulate myocardial relaxation and diastolic tone by reducing the relative myofilament response to Ca2+, probably via cG MP-dependent protein kinase.
