Transport of a single ion in an optical lattice: spatial diffusion and energy
TL;DR: In this article, a numerical study of the dynamics of a single ion subjected to a polarization gradient field, a weak confining electric potential and a periodic driving force is presented, where an amplitude is chosen for the periodic force; a single value gives satisfactory agreement for both the spatial diffusion coefficient and the potential energy in the confining potential.

Investigation of Molecule-Surface Interaction by Laser-Induced Fluorescence
F. Frenkel,J. Häger,W. Krieger,Herbert Walther,Charles T. Campbell,Gerhard Ertl,H.P.C.E. Kuipers,J. Segner +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the rotational distribution of surface-scattered NO molecules was measured by laser-induced fluorescence and the angular distribution of the scattered molecules was obtained. But this technique has not yet been applied to measure the internal state distribution of NO molecules.
Book ChapterDOI
Quantum Effects in Single-Atom and Single-Photon Experiments
TL;DR: In this paper, an experiment based on one-atom maser and designed to probe the way in which the measurement process, that is, the presence of a detector, influences the investigated quantum system is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Generalized Schrödinger Cat States in Cavity QED
TL;DR: In this article, a method of generating generalized Schrodinger cat states by considering the resonant interaction of a high-quality cavity with N two-level atoms driven by a strong classical field is proposed.
