The evolution of fungal epiphytes
S. Hongsanan,Santiago Sánchez-Ramírez,Pedro W. Crous,Hiran A. Ariyawansa,R. L. Zhao,Kevin D. Hyde +5 more
TL;DR: A molecular clock is used to provide a rough time frame for the origins of fungal epiphytes in the orders Asterinales, Capnodiales, Meliolales, Microthyriales and Zeloasperisporiales using sequence data from representative strains of the major classes of Ascomycota to represent internal calibration points in the phylogenetic tree.
Journal ArticleDOI
Divergence time calibrations for ancient lineages of Ascomycota classification based on a modern review of estimations
Milan C. Samarakoon,Kevin D. Hyde,Kevin D. Hyde,Sinang Hongsanan,Eric H. C. McKenzie,Hiran A. Ariyawansa,Itthayakorn Promputtha,Xiang-Yu Zeng,Qing Tian,Jian-Kui Liu +9 more
TL;DR: This study summarizes a historical fossil outline with a reliable minimum age for 16 calibrating points viz. crown of Aigialus, Anzia, Aspergillus, Asterina, Calicium chlorosporum–C.
Journal ArticleDOI
An Exciting Novel Member of Lentitheciaceae in Italy from Clematis Vitalba
Dhanushka N. Wanasinghe,E. B. Gareth Jones,Erio Camporesi,Saranyaphat Boonmee,Hiran A. Ariyawansa,Nalin N. Wijayawardene,Peter E. Mortimer,Jianchu Xu,Jun-Bo Yang,Kevin D. Hyde +9 more
TL;DR: A saprobic ascomycete isolated from Clematis vitalba has unique characters and is introduced as a new genus and species within Lentitheciaceae, and maximum parsimony, maximum likelihood, and Mr Bayes phylogenetic analysis all support this being a distinct genus within this family.
Journal ArticleDOI
DISCOMYCETES: the apothecial representatives of the phylum Ascomycota
Anusha H. Ekanayaka,Anusha H. Ekanayaka,Hiran A. Ariyawansa,Kevin D. Hyde,Kevin D. Hyde,E. B. G. Jones,Dinushani A. Daranagama,Alan J. L. Phillips,S. Hongsanan,Subashini C. Jayasiri,Qi Zhao +10 more
TL;DR: A historical perspective of discomycetes is provided, notes on their morphology (including both asexual and sexual morphs), ecology and importance, an outline of disComycete families and a synoptical cladogram of currently accepted families in AscomyCota showing their systematic position are provided.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diversity and pathogenicity of Colletotrichum species causing strawberry anthracnose in Taiwan and description of a new species, Colletotrichum miaoliense sp. nov.
Pei-Che Chung,Pei-Che Chung,Hung-Yi Wu,Yen-Wen Wang,Hiran A. Ariyawansa,Hsien-Pin Hu,Ting-Hsuan Hung,Shean-Shong Tzean,Chia-Lin Chung +8 more
TL;DR: To investigate the diversity of infectious agents causing strawberry anthracnose in Taiwan, a disease survey was conducted from 2010 to 2018, and a new species, Colletotrichum miaoliense sp.
