Halojulellaceae a new family of the order Pleosporales
Hiran A. Ariyawansa,E. B. G. Jones,Satinee Suetrong,Siti Aisyah Alias,Ji-Chuan Kang,Kevin D. Hyde +5 more
TL;DR: Morphological characters and molecular data show that H. avicenniae belongs in the Pleosporales, outside any of the known families, and thus a new family is introduced to accommodate it and Halojulellaceae fam.
Journal ArticleDOI
Perspectives into the value of genera, families and orders in classification
Ning-Guo Liu,Hiran A. Ariyawansa,Kevin D. Hyde,Sajeewa S. N. Maharachchikumbura,R. L. Zhao,Alan J. L. Phillips,Ruvishika S. Jayawardena,Kasun M. Thambugala,Asha J. Dissanayake,Nalin N. Wijayawardene,Jian-Kui Liu,Zuo Yi Liu,Rajesh Jeewon,E. B. G. Jones,Juangjun Jumpathong +14 more
TL;DR: Recommendations for introducing species into appropriate ranks such as genera, families and orders, as well as the rationale to maintain species in one genus or segregate one genus into several genera are proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Muriphaeosphaeria galatellae gen. et sp. nov. in Phaeosphaeriaceae ( Pleosporales )
Chayanard Phukhamsakda,Hiran A. Ariyawansa,Rungtiwa Phookamsak,Putarak Chomnunti,Timur S. Bulgakov,Jun-Bo Yang,Darbhe J. Bhat,Ali H. Bahkali,Kevin D. Hyde +8 more
TL;DR: A phylogenetic analysis based on combined LSU, SSU and ITS sequence data showed that M. galatellae forms a distinct lineage in Phaeosphaeriaceae.
Journal ArticleDOI
A re-assessment of Elsinoaceae (Myriangiales, Dothideomycetes)
Ruvishika S. Jayawardena,Hiran A. Ariyawansa,Chonticha Singtripop,Yan-Mei Li,Jiye Yan,Xinghong Li,Somrudee Nilthong,Kevin D. Hyde +7 more
TL;DR: The family Elsinoaceae is revisited by examining generic types and analysis of molecular sequence data available in GenBank to resolve their placement in families or orders of Dothidoemycetes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Divergence and ranking of taxa across the kingdoms Animalia, Fungi and Plantae
TL;DR: It is found that groups of Animalia classified as phyla, classes, orders and families, diverged earlier as compared to those of the kingdoms Fungi and Plantae, which suggests that animal taxonomists have been more liberal when splitting ranks at the phylum, class and order levels, while at the family level the ranking across kingdoms is comparable.
