Cost effectiveness of hypertension treatment based on the measurement of ambulatory blood pressure

TL;DR: Calculations of the cost saving and life years associated with changing from CBP to ABP measurement as diagnostic tool and a sensitivity analysis found that the introduction of ABP was associated with at least a cost reduction, but it did not provide significant extension of average life years.

TL;DR: In this article, a cross-sectional study included 28,265 Dutch Lifelines Cohort Study spouse pairs (2006-2013) and 5,391 Japanese Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization (ToMMo) cohort study pairs (2013-2016) and evaluated spousal similarities in cardiometabolic risk factors and diseases between Dutch and Japanese populations.

TL;DR: The findings suggest that physicians should recommend measuring HBP in accordance with the Japanese Society of Hypertension guidelines more aggressively, and provide more detailed explanations to patients regarding how to measure HBP.
