Lacunar Infarcts Rather than White Matter Hyperintensity as a Predictor of Future Higher Level Functional Decline: The Ohasama Study
Megumi Tsubota-Utsugi,Michihiro Satoh,Naoki Tomita,Azusa Hara,Takeo Kondo,Miki Hosaka,Sho Saito,Kei Asayama,Ryusuke Inoue,Mikio Hirano,Aya Hosokawa,Keiko Murakami,Takahisa Murakami,Hirohito Metoki,Masahiro Kikuya,Shin-ichi Izumi,Yutaka Imai,Takayoshi Ohkubo +17 more
TL;DR: Silent cerebrovascular lesions are associated with future risk of decline in higher level functional capacity in older community-dwelling adults and Appropriate management of health risk factors to prevent silent cerebroVascular lesions may prevent higher levelfunctional decline in the elderly population.
Journal ArticleDOI
Incorporating self-blood pressure measurements at home in the guideline from the Ohasama study.
Takayoshi Ohkubo,Masahiro Kikuya,Kei Asayama,Hirohito Metoki,Azusa Hara,Ryusuke Inoue,Taku Obara,Takuo Hirose,Rieko Hatanaka,Atsushi Hozawa,Haruhisa Hoshi,Junichiro Hashimoto,Kazuhito Totsune,Hiroshi Satoh,Yutaka Imai +14 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that home BP more accurately and reliably reflect target organ damage and the prognosis of cardiovascular disease than conventional BP, whereas the predictive value of home BP increased progressively with the number of measurements.
White-Coat Hypertension as a Risk Factor for the Development of Home Hypertension
Takashi Ugajin,Atsushi Hozawa,Takayoshi Ohkubo,Kei Asayama,Masahiro Kikuya,Taku Obara,Hirohito Metoki,Haruhisa Hoshi,Junichiro Hashimoto,Kazuhito Totsune,Hiroshi Satoh,Ichiro Tsuji,Yutaka Imai +12 more
TL;DR: The results from the present 8-year follow-up study demonstrate that white-coat hypertension is a transitional condition to hypertension outside medical settings, suggesting thatwhite-coathypertension may carry a poor cardiovascular prognosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differential effects of angiotensin II receptor blocker and losartan/hydrochlorothiazide combination on central blood pressure and augmentation index
Hirohito Metoki,Taku Obara,Kei Asayama,Michihiro Satoh,Miki Hosaka,Noha Elnagar,Yoshinori Miyawaki,Iwao Kojima,Takayoshi Ohkubo,Yutaka Imai +9 more
TL;DR: A weak effect on pulse wave reflection and, thus, on CSBP, of the combination may be overcome by the potent antihypertensive effect of this regimen.
Journal ArticleDOI
Machine learning approaches to predict gestational age in normal and complicated pregnancies via urinary metabolomics analysis.
Takafumi Yamauchi,Daisuke Ochi,Naomi Matsukawa,Daisuke Saigusa,Mami Ishikuro,Taku Obara,Yoshiki Tsunemoto,Satsuki Kumatani,Riu Yamashita,Osamu Tanabe,Naoko Minegishi,Seizo Koshiba,Hirohito Metoki,Shinichi Kuriyama,Nobuo Yaegashi,Masayuki Yamamoto,Masao Nagasaki,Satoshi Hiyama,Junichi Sugawara +18 more
TL;DR: This is the first study to predict gestational age in normal and complicated pregnancies by using urinary metabolite information, and the predicted gestational ages of cases with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy exhibited significant progression, compared with actual Gestational ages.
