Journal ArticleDOI
The 2010 Mw 8.8 Maule megathrust earthquake of Central Chile, monitored by GPS.
Christophe Vigny,Anne Socquet,S. Peyrat,Jean-Claude Ruegg,Marianne Métois,Marianne Métois,Raul Madariaga,Sylvain Morvan,M. Lancieri,Robin Lacassin,Jaime Campos,Daniel Carrizo,Marta Béjar-Pizarro,Sergio Barrientos,Rolando Armijo,C. Aranda,M. C. Valderas-Bermejo,I. Ortega,Francis Bondoux,Stéphane Baize,Hélène Lyon-Caen,A. Pavez,Jean-Pierre Vilotte,Michael Bevis,Benjamin A. Brooks,Robert Smalley,H. Parra,Juan Carlos Baez,M. Blanco,S. Cimbaro,Eric Kendrick +30 more
TL;DR: Using data from Global Positioning System networks in Central Chile to infer the static deformation and the kinematics of the 2010 moment magnitude 8.8 Maule megathrust earthquake, it is found that rupture reached shallow depths, probably extending up to the trench.
Journal ArticleDOI
Revisiting the North Chile seismic gap segmentation using GPS-derived interseismic coupling
Marianne Métois,Marianne Métois,Anne Socquet,Christophe Vigny,Daniel Carrizo,S. Peyrat,Arthur Delorme,E. Maureira,M. C. Valderas-Bermejo,I. Ortega +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a new Global Positioning System (GPS) velocity field, acquired between 2008 and 2012, that describes in some detail the interseismic deformation between 18°S and 24°S.
Journal ArticleDOI
Asperities and barriers on the seismogenic zone in North Chile: state‐of‐the‐art after the 2007 Mw 7.7 Tocopilla earthquake inferred by GPS and InSAR data
Marta Béjar-Pizarro,Marta Béjar-Pizarro,Daniel Carrizo,Daniel Carrizo,Anne Socquet,Rolando Armijo,Sergio Barrientos,F. Bondoux,Sylvain Bonvalot,Jaime Campos,Diana Comte,J. B. de Chabalier,Olivier Charade,A. Delorme,Germinal Gabalda,John Galetzka,J. F. Genrich,A. Nercessian,M. Olcay,F. Ortega,I. Ortega,Dominique Remy,Jean-Claude Ruegg,Mark Simons,C. Valderas,Christophe Vigny +25 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that the 2007 Tocopilla main shock showed slip concentrated in two main asperities, consistent with previous inversions of seismological data, and that small but still significant post-seismic slip occurred within the first 10 d after the main shock.
Journal ArticleDOI
GPS-derived interseismic coupling on the subduction and seismic hazards in the Atacama region, Chile
Marianne Métois,Marianne Métois,Christophe Vigny,Anne Socquet,Arthur Delorme,Sylvain Morvan,I. Ortega,C.-M Valderas-Bermejo +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors use GPS data collected in the Atacama region between 2008 and 2012 to complete and densify existing data acquired since 2004 in North-Central Chile, and assess the kinematic coupling on the subduction interface at these latitudes.
