Book ChapterDOI
Molecular and Cellular Basis of Formation, Hardening, and Breakdown of the Egg Envelope in Fish
TL;DR: The chapter explores the egg envelope as a probe that can be used in the analysis of molecular, cellular, and developmental phenomena in living systems from the perspective of cell and developmental biology.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cloning of cDNAs for the Precursor Protein of a Low-Molecular-Weight Subunit of the Inner Layer of the Egg Envelope (Chorion) of the Fish Oryzias latipes
Kenji Murata,Tetsuo Sasaki,Shigeki Yasumasu,Ichiro Iuchi,Jumpei Enami,Ikuo Yasumasu,Kenjiro Yamagami +6 more
TL;DR: Northern blot analysis employing XhoI-SmaI fragments of the cloned cDNA as probes revealed that expression of the L-SF gene occurred exclusively in the livers of spawning female fish and estrogen-treated male fish and that there was no mRNA encoding L- SF in the ovary of the spawning femaleFish.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isolation of cDNAs for LCE and HCE, two constituent proteases of the hatching enzyme of Oryzias latipes, and concurrent expression of their mRNAs during development.
Shigeki Yasumasu,K. Yamada,Koji Akasaka,Keiko Mitsunaga,Ichiro Iuchi,Hiraku Shimada,Kenjiro Yamagami +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, cDNA clones for two types of proteases (HCE, LCE) were isolated from a lambda gt11 cDNA library constructed with poly(A)+ RNA of Day 3 embryos.
Journal ArticleDOI
Purification and partial characterization of high choriolytic enzyme (HCE), a component of the hatching enzyme of the teleost, Oryzias latipes.
TL;DR: High choriolytic (egg envelope digesting) enzyme (HCE) was purified and some biochemical and enzymological properties were examined, and it was suggested that it was a zinc-protease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Purification and characterization of zebrafish hatching enzyme - an evolutionary aspect of the mechanism of egg envelope digestion.
TL;DR: The present study suggests that ZHE1 and MHCE maintain the character of an ancestral hatching enzyme, and that MLCE acquires a new function, such as promoting the complete digestion of the egg envelope swollen by MHCE.
