Black holes with surrounding matter in scalar-tensor theories

TL;DR: Two mechanisms that can render Kerr black holes unstable in scalar-tensor gravity are uncovered, both associated with the presence of matter in the vicinity of the black hole and the fact that this introduces an effective mass for the scalar.
Journal ArticleDOI

Matter around Kerr black holes in scalar-tensor theories: scalarization and superradiant instability

TL;DR: In a stationary electrovacuum, asymptotically flat black holes in scalar-tensor theories of gravity are described by the Kerr-Newman family of solutions as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ingredients for 21cm intensity mapping

TL;DR: In this paper, the abundance and clustering properties of the Halo-to-Halo (HI) at redshifts were studied using TNG100, a large state-of-the-art magneto-hydrodynamic simulation of a 75 Mpc/h box size.
Journal ArticleDOI

Warm dark matter signatures on the 21cm power spectrum: Intensity mapping forecasts for SKA

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate the impact of warm dark matter (WDM) on 21 cm intensity mapping in the post-reionization Universe at z=3???5, and show that the suppression of power present in the linear and non-linear matter power spectra results in an increase of power in terms of neutral hydrogen and 21 cm power spectrum, due to the lack of small mass halos in WDM models with respect to cold dark matter.
