Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative environmental assessment of natural and recycled aggregate concrete.

TL;DR: It is concluded that utilization of RAC for low-to-middle strength structural concrete and non-aggressive exposure conditions is technically feasible and the environmental impacts are slightly larger for RAC than for NAC but the total environmental impacts depend on the natural and recycled aggregates transport distances and on transport types.
Journal ArticleDOI

Environmental assessment of green concretes for structural use

TL;DR: In this paper, a comparative environmental assessment of several different green concrete mixes for structural use was presented, and the best overall environmental performance was shown by the alkali activated fly ash concrete mix with natural aggregates and the high-volume fly ash recycled aggregate concrete mix.
Journal ArticleDOI

Flexural behavior of reinforced recycled aggregate concrete beams under short-term loading

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the flexural behavior of RAC beams when compared to the behavior of natural aggregate concrete (NAC) beams under short-term loading and consequently the possibility of using RAC in structural concrete elements.
Journal ArticleDOI

Understanding the carbonation of concrete with supplementary cementitious materials: a critical review by RILEM TC 281-CCC

TL;DR: In this paper, a literature review, prepared by members of RILEM technical committee 281-CCC carbonation of concrete with supplementary cementitious materials, working groups 1 and 2, elucidates the effect of numerous SCM characteristics, exposure environments and curing conditions on the carbonation mechanism, kinetics and structural alterations in cementitious systems containing SCMs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Shear behaviour of recycled aggregate concrete beams with and without shear reinforcement

TL;DR: In this paper, an experimental study of the shear behaviour of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) beams with and without shear reinforcement is presented, where nine full-scale simply supported beams were loaded in four-point bending tests until failure.
