Penarrubia,Jeremy Bailin,James Binney,Walter Dehnen,Ivan Minchev,Alice C. Quillen,Mike Read,B. J. Boyle +53 more
TL;DR: The first data release of the Radial Velocity Experiment (RAVE) is presented and it is demonstrated that the radial velocities derived for the first data set do not show any systematic trend with color or signal-to-noise ratio.

The Closest View of a Dwarf Galaxy: New Evidence on the Nature of the Canis Major Overdensity
David Martínez-Delgado,David Martínez-Delgado,D. J. Butler,Hans-Walter Rix,Y. Isabel Franco,J. Penarrubia,Emilio J. Alfaro,Dana I. Dinescu +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented a deep color-magnitude diagram of the putative central region (05 × 05) of the Canis Major stellar overdensity (l, b) = (240, - 8) found recently by Martin and coworkers, which has been proposed as the remnant of a dwarf satellite accreted onto the Milky Way on a near-equatorial orbit.
Journal ArticleDOI
The scatter about the ‘Universal’ dwarf spheroidal mass profile: a kinematic study of the M31 satellites And V and And VI
Michelle L. M. Collins,Scott Chapman,R. M. Rich,Mike Irwin,J. Penarrubia,Rodrigo A. Ibata,Nobuo Arimoto,Alyson Brooks,Annette M. N. Ferguson,Geraint F. Lewis,Alan W. McConnachie,K. A. Venn +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present new kinematic and updated structural properties for two M31 dwarf spheroidals (dSph), And V and And VI, using data from the Keck Low Resolution Imaging Spectrograph (LRIS) and the DEep Imaging Multi-Object Spectrogram (DEIMOS) instruments and the Subaru Suprime-Cam imager.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Theoretical Study of the Luminosity-Temperature Relation for Clusters of Galaxies
TL;DR: In this paper, a luminosity-temperature relation is derived for clusters of galaxies based on the angular momentum acquisition by the protostructures during their expansion and collapse, and it is shown that the nonsimilarity in the L-T relation can be explained by a simple model that takes into account the amount of angular momentum of a protostructure.
