Using Competitive Learning Models for Multiple Prototype Classifier Design

TL;DR: The modified Chang’s method is, for the Iris data and processing protocols used in this study, the best of the six schemes in one sense; it finds 11 prototypes that yield a resubstitution error rate of 0.05, and in a different sense, the DR method is best, yielding a classifier that commits only 3 errors with 5 prototypes.
BookDOI

Advances in artificial intelligence : applications and theory

TL;DR: This volume contains a well-balanced set of applications and theory papers in artificial intelligence advances that discuss a system that is (or is close to being) a fielded system that solves real problems using one or more AI techniques.

Approximate data mining in very large relational data

TL;DR: The eNERF as discussed by the authors algorithm is an extended version of non-Euclidean relational fuzzy c-means (NERFCM) for approximate clustering in very large (unloadable) relational data.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Random vector clustering using fuzzy c-means

TL;DR: The range of applicability of FCM is shown to include data sets whose feature values are continuous random variables, andParametric and nonparametric approaches are given and demonstrated using a simple computational example.

The Story of the NAFIP-1 Poster

TL;DR: The idea of forming a professional society dedicated to the advancement of Fuzzy Sets and Systems was hatched by Enrique Ruspini, Madan Gupta and myself on a plane trip returning to the USA from Acapulco, Mexico in December, 1980.
