Journal ArticleDOI
Superoxide dismutase 1 acts as a nuclear transcription factor to regulate oxidative stress resistance.
TL;DR: In response to elevated endogenous and exogenous reactive oxygen species (ROS), Sod1 rapidly relocates into the nucleus, which is important for maintaining genomic stability, and H2O2 is sufficient to promote Sod1 nuclear localization, indicating that it is responding to general ROS rather than Sod1 substrate superoxide.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rab1A Is an mTORC1 Activator and a Colorectal Oncogene
Janice D. Thomas,Yan Jie Zhang,Yan Jie Zhang,Yue Hua Wei,Jun-Hung Cho,Laura E. Morris,Hui Yun Wang,Hui Yun Wang,X. F.Steven Zheng,X. F.Steven Zheng +9 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that Rab1 is an m TORC1 activator and an oncogene and that hyperactive AA signaling through Rab1A overexpression drives oncogenesis and renders cancer cells prone to mTORC1-targeted therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vaccinia virus leads to ATG12–ATG3 conjugation and deficiency in autophagosome formation.
Joseph G. Moloughney,Claude E Monken,Hanlin Tao,Haiyan Zhang,Janice D. Thomas,Edmund C. Lattime,Shengkan Jin +6 more
TL;DR: This study demonstrated that vaccinia virus actively disrupts the cellular autophagy through a novel molecular mechanism that is associated with aberrant LC3 lipidation and a direct conjugation between ATG12 and ATG3.
Journal ArticleDOI

Journal ArticleDOI
A Sensitive Coupled HPLC/Electrospray Mass Spectrometry Assay for SPM-1 Metallo-β-Lactamase Inhibitors
TL;DR: An assay is described herein that monitors the SPM-1-catalyzed hydrolysis of penicillin G by high-performance (high-pressure) liquid chromatography-electrospray mass spectroscopy, which permits investigations with greater sensitivity and selectivity allowing the screening of natural product extracts for inhibitors of MBLs.
