Journal ArticleDOI
Association study of candidate genes with obesity and metabolic traits in antipsychotic-treated patients with first-episode psychosis over a 2-year period.
Patricia Gassó,Joan Albert Arnaiz,Sergi Mas,Amalia Lafuente,Miquel Bioque,Manuel J. Cuesta,Covadonga M. Díaz-Caneja,Clemente García,Antonio Lobo,Ana González-Pinto,Mara Parellada,Iluminada Corripio,Eduard Vieta,Josefina Castro-Fornieles,Anna Mané,Natalia Rodríguez,Daniel Boloc,Jerónimo Saiz-Ruiz,Miguel Bernardo +18 more
TL;DR: The results of this study support previous evidence of the impact of these candidate genes on obesity and metabolic status and enable clinicians to better select and control their AP treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Factors associated with the effectiveness of a telephone-based nursing strategy for enhancing medication adherence in schizophrenia.
TL;DR: The intervention was significantly associated with adherence improvement in those patients with a previous negative attitude towards medication and a slight concordance was obtained between adherence improvement and improvement in patient perception of treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lack of association between polymorphic variations in the α3 subunit GABA receptor gene (GABRA3) and suicide attempts
Enrique Baca-García,Concepción Vaquero,Carmen Diaz-Sastre,Luis Jimenez-Treviño,Jerónimo Saiz-Ruiz,José Fernández-Piqueras,Jose de Leon +6 more
TL;DR: This study can rule out even small size effects in the total sample and suggests a lack of association between GABRA3 polymorphism and suicide attempt, in the Spanish population.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic epistasis in female suicide attempters
Pablo Fernández-Navarro,Concepción Vaquero-Lorenzo,Hilario Blasco-Fontecilla,Montserrat Diaz-Hernandez,Mònica Gratacòs,Xabier Estivill,Javier Costas,Angel Carracedo,José Fernández-Piqueras,Jerónimo Saiz-Ruiz,Enrique Baca-García +10 more
TL;DR: An epistatic interaction between genes of all monoamines and GABA in female suicide attempters is suggested, suggesting an epistatic effect in suicidal behavior.
Journal ArticleDOI
Salience and dysregulation of the dopaminergic system
TL;DR: A review of the scientific evidence on the theoretical approaches of the dopaminergic hypothesis of psychosis and its relationship with the reward and salience systems is given in this article, where aberrant salience occurs when the dysregulation of dopamine transmission produces a mistaken interpretation of neutral or irrelevant stimuli as a source of reward or punishment.
