The production of furfural directly from hemicellulose in lignocellulosic biomass : A review

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an overview of the production of furfural directly from hemicellulose in lignocellulosic biomass with special emphasis on achieving the effective utilization of hemicellocellulose.
Journal ArticleDOI

Direct microwave-assisted hydrothermal depolymerization of cellulose.

TL;DR: A systematic investigation of the interaction of microwave irradiation with microcrystalline cellulose has been carried out, covering a broad temperature range, and the degree of freedom of the cellulose enclosed CH2OH groups was found to be crucial.
Journal ArticleDOI

A sustainable biochar catalyst synergized with copper heteroatoms and CO2 for singlet oxygenation and electron transfer routes

TL;DR: In this paper, a wood waste-derived biochar was developed as a sustainable graphitic carbon catalyst for environmental remediation through catalytic pyrolysis under the synergistic effects between Cu heteroatoms and CO2, which for the first time are found to significantly enhance the oxygen functionalities, defective sites, and highly ordered sp2-hybridized carbon matrix.
Journal ArticleDOI

Recent Advances in the Catalytic Depolymerization of Lignin towards Phenolic Chemicals: A Review.

TL;DR: The present study systematically summarizes the far‐reaching and state‐of‐the‐art lignin valorization strategies during different stages, including conventional catalytic depolymerization of technical lign in, emerging reductive catalytic fractionation of protolignin, stabilization strategies to inhibit the undesired condensation reactions, and further catalytic upgrading of lignIn‐derived monomers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization and utilization of aqueous products from hydrothermal conversion of biomass for bio-oil and hydro-char production: a review

TL;DR: In this paper, the main reactions occurring in HTC, characterization of HTC-AP, and factors affecting the compositions of HTH-AP are summarized, and the main challenges for future research on HTHAP have been identified and possible solutions are given.
