Dendrite-Free Lithium Deposition via Self-Healing Electrostatic Shield Mechanism

TL;DR: This work shows a novel mechanism that can fundamentally alter dendrite formation in lithium-ion batteries as well as other metal batteries and transform the surface uniformity of coatings deposited in many general electrodeposition processes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Making Li‐Air Batteries Rechargeable: Material Challenges

TL;DR: In this paper, the status and materials challenges for nonaqueous rechargeable Li-air batteries are reviewed, including electrolytes, cathode (electrocatalysts), lithium metal anodes and oxygen-selective membranes (oxygen supply from air).
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of Carbonate Solvents and Lithium Salts on Morphology and Coulombic Efficiency of Lithium Electrode

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of different carbonate solvents and Li salts on Li deposition morphology and Li Coulombic efficiency were systematically investigated, and cyclic carbonates are found to favor the formation of uniform Li film and improve Li CE than linear carbonates do.
Journal ArticleDOI

The stability of organic solvents and carbon electrode in nonaqueous Li-O2 batteries

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of six types of aprotic organic solvents on the discharge performance and discharge products in Li-O 2 batteries were systematically investigated, and it was shown that dibutyl diglyme is the suitable solvent for Li O 2 batteries based on its overall properties.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optimization of Nonaqueous Electrolytes for Primary Lithium/Air Batteries Operated in Ambient Environment

TL;DR: In this paper, the selection and optimization of nonaqueous electrolytes for ambient operations of lithium/air batteries has been studied and it has been found that PC/EC mixture is the best solvent system and LiTFSI is the most feasible salt for ambient operation of Li/Air batteries.
