Generalized Modeling of Spontaneous Imbibition Based on Hagen− Poiseuille Flow in Tortuous Capillaries with Variably Shaped Apertures

TL;DR: A more generalized spontaneous imbibitions model is developed by considering the different sizes and shapes of pores, the tortuosity of imbibition streamlines in random porous media, and the initial wetting-phase saturation and test results show that the generalized model can be used to characterize the spontaneous imbIBition behavior of many different porous media.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Discussion of the Effect of Tortuosity on the Capillary Imbibition in Porous Media

TL;DR: Based on the tortuous capillary model and fractal geometry, the effect of tortuosity on the capillary imbibition in wetting porous media is discussed in this article, where the average height growth of wetting liquid in porous media driven by capillary force following the Lucas-Washburn (LW) law is obtained.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fractal Characterization of Spontaneous Co-current Imbibition in Porous Media

TL;DR: In this article, analytical expressions for characterizing a spontaneous co-current imbibition process of wetting fluid into gas-saturated porous media are proposed based on the fractal characters of porous media.
Journal ArticleDOI

Recent advances in carbon dioxide utilization

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of the latest developments in CO2 capture, utilization, conversion, and sequestration is examined through a multi-scale perspective, including mineralization, biological utilization, food and beverages, energy storage media, and chemicals.
Journal ArticleDOI

An analytical model for spontaneous imbibition in fractal porous media including gravity

TL;DR: Based on the fractal character of porous media, a full analytical model for characterizing spontaneous imbibition of wetting liquid vertically into gas-saturated porous media has been derived including gravity over the entire imbibulation process time frame as discussed by the authors.
