Journal ArticleDOI

Oxidative stress-dependent toxicity of silver nanoparticles in human hepatoma cells

TL;DR: The findings suggest that AgNP cytotoxicity is primarily the result of oxidative stress and is independent of the toxicity of Ag(+) ions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Silver nanoparticles induce oxidative cell damage in human liver cells through inhibition of reduced glutathione and induction of mitochondria-involved apoptosis

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the possible molecular mechanisms underlying the cytotoxic effects of AgNPs and found that AgNs induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and suppression of reduced glutathione (GSH) in human Chang liver cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oxidative stress induced by cerium oxide nanoparticles in cultured BEAS-2B cells

TL;DR: It was observed that cerium oxide nanoparticles penetrated into the cytoplasm and located in the peri-region of the nucleus as aggregated particles, which may induce the direct interaction between nanoparticles and cellular molecules to cause adverse cellular responses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oxidative stress and apoptosis induced by titanium dioxide nanoparticles in cultured BEAS-2B cells.

TL;DR: T titanium dioxide nanoparticles seem to penetrate into the cytoplasm and locate in the peri-region of the nucleus as aggregated particles, which may induce direct interactions between the particles and cellular molecules, to cause adverse biological responses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ecotoxicity of silver nanoparticles on the soil nematode Caenorhabditis elegans using functional ecotoxicogenomics.

TL;DR: Overall results of functional genomic studies suggested that the sod-3 and daf-12 gene expressions may have been related to the AgNPs-induced reproductive failure in C. elegans and that oxidative stress may have be an important mechanism in AgNps toxicity.
