The relationship between bone, hemopoietic stem cells, and vasculature
Sarah Ellis,Sarah Ellis,Sarah Ellis,Jochen Grassinger,Allan S. Jones,Judy Borg,Todd D. Camenisch,David N. Haylock,Ivan Bertoncello,Susan K. Nilsson,Susan K. Nilsson +10 more
TL;DR: It is shown that transplanted hemopoietic stem and progenitor cells home preferentially to the trabecular-rich metaphysis of the femurs in nonablated mice at all time points from 15 minutes to 15 hours after transplantation, suggesting that blood vessels within this region may express a unique repertoire of endothelial adhesive molecules.
Journal ArticleDOI
Therapeutic targeting and rapid mobilization of endosteal hsc using a small molecule integrin antagonist
Benjamin Cao,Zhen Zhang,Jochen Grassinger,Brenda Williams,Chad K. Heazlewood,Quentin I. Churches,Simon James,Songhui Li,Thalia Papayannopoulou,Susan K. Nilsson +9 more
TL;DR: Targeting α9β1/α4β1 integrins with a single dose of a small molecule antagonist rapidly mobilizes long-term multi-lineage reconstituting HSC and effectively out-competes PB mobilized with G-CSF.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression and Function of Homing-Essential Molecules and Enhanced In Vivo Homing Ability of Human Peripheral Blood-Derived Hematopoietic Progenitor Cells after Stimulation with Stem Cell Factor
Christina Hart,Diana Drewel,Gunnar Mueller,Jochen Grassinger,Matthias Zaiss,Leoni A. Kunz-Schughart,Reinhard Andreesen,Albrecht Reichle,Ernst Holler,Burkhard Hennemann +9 more
TL;DR: The data provide the first in vivo evidence that stimulation with cytokines improves the homing ability of transplanted human hematopoietic progenitor cells, as well as confirming by transplantation into sublethally irradiated nonobese diabetic‐scid/scid mice.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pioglitazone, etoricoxib, interferon-α, and metronomic capecitabine for metastatic renal cell carcinoma: final results of a prospective phase II trial.
B. Walter,I. Schrettenbrunner,Martin Vogelhuber,Jochen Grassinger,K. J. Bross,J. Wilke,T. Suedhoff,Anna Berand,W. F. Wieland,Sebastian Rogenhofer,Reinhard Andreesen,Albrecht Reichle +11 more
TL;DR: The data allow us to conclude that the control of tumor-associated inflammation is an important therapeutic principle in patients with metastatic RCC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bone morphogenetic protein (BMP)-7 but not BMP-2 and BMP-4 improves maintenance of primitive peripheral blood-derived hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPC) cultured in serum-free medium supplemented with early acting cytokines.
Jochen Grassinger,Michaela Simon,Gunnar Mueller,Diana Drewel,Reinhard Andreesen,Burkhard Hennemann +5 more
TL;DR: BMP-2, -4 and -7 have no effect on the proliferation of CD34+ cells and CFC cultured with serum-free medium and SF3, however, BMP-7 but not Bmp-2 and B MP-4 prevents the loss of primitive hematopoietic progenitor cells cultured in SFM plus SF3.
