Antisense and antigene properties of peptide nucleic acids
Jeffery C. Hanvey,Nancy J. Peffer,John E. Bisi,Stephen A. Thomson,Rodolfo Cadilla,John A. Josey,Daniel J. Ricca,C. Fred Hassman,Michele A. Bonham,Karin G. Au,Stephen G. Carter,David A. Bruckenstein,Ann Boyd,Stewart A. Noble,Lee E. Babiss +14 more
TL;DR: Nuclear microinjection of cells constitutively expressing SV40 large T antigen with either a 15-mer or 20-mer PNA targeted to the T Ag messenger RNA suppressed T Ag expression, and Binding of PNAs to RNA resulted in site-specific termination of both reverse transcription and in vitro translation.
Journal ArticleDOI
CDK4/6 Inhibition Augments Antitumor Immunity by Enhancing T-cell Activation
Jiehui Deng,Jiehui Deng,Eric S. Wang,Russell W. Jenkins,Shuai Li,Ruben Dries,Kathleen B. Yates,Sandeep Chhabra,Wei Huang,Hongye Liu,Amir Reza Aref,Elena Ivanova,Cloud P. TL;DR: It is shown that short-term exposure to small-molecule inhibitors of cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6 significantly enhances T- cell activation, contributing to antitumor effects in vivo, due in part to the derepression of NFAT family proteins and their target genes, critical regulators of T-cell function.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multiple Roles of Cyclin-Dependent Kinase 4/6 Inhibitors in Cancer Therapy
Patrick J. Roberts,John E. Bisi,Jay C. Strum,Austin J. Combest,David B. Darr,Jerry Usary,William C. Zamboni,Kwok-Kin Wong,Charles M. Perou,Norman E. Sharpless +9 more
TL;DR: The present data support a possible role for CDK4/6 inhibitors in a majority of patients with advanced cancer and suggest statistically significant protection of platelets in tumor-bearing mice.
Journal ArticleDOI
An assessment of the antisense properties of RNase H-competent and steric-blocking oligomers.
Michele A. Bonham,Stephen C. Brown,Ann Boyd,Pamela H. Brown,David A. Bruckenstein,Jeffery C. Hanvey,Stephen A. Thomson,Adrian J. Pipe,Fred Hassman,John E. Bisi,Brian C. Froehler,Mark D. Matteucci,Richard W. Wagner,Stewart A. Noble,Lee E. Babiss +14 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that PNAs could be effective antisense agents with additional chemical modification that will lead to more rapid association with their RNA target.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulation of survivin by ErbB2 signaling: therapeutic implications for ErbB2-overexpressing breast cancers.
Wenle Xia,John E. Bisi,Jay C. Strum,Leihua Liu,Kevin Carrick,Katherine M. Graham,Amanda L. Treece,Mary Ann Hardwicke,Michael K. Dush,Qiaoyin Liao,Ron E. Westlund,Sumin Zhao,Sarah S. Bacus,Neil L. Spector +13 more
TL;DR: It is shown that ErbB2 regulates survivin protein expression in Erb B2-overexpressing breast cancer cells, shedding new light on the mechanism by which ErbK2 overexpression protects against apoptotic stimuli in breast cancer and identifies therapeutic interventions to improve clinical outcomes in these aggressive tumors.
