Bypass versus Angioplasty in Severe Ischaemia of the Leg (BASIL) trial: An intention-to-treat analysis of amputation-free and overall survival in patients randomized to a bypass surgery-first or a balloon angioplasty-first revascularization strategy
Andrew W. Bradbury,Andrew W. Bradbury,Donald J. Adam,Jocelyn Bell,John F. Forbes,F. Gerry R. Fowkes,I. Gillespie,C. V. Ruckley,Gillian M. Raab,Basil trial participants +9 more
TL;DR: Overall, there was no significant difference in AFS or OS between the two strategies, however, for those patients who survived for at least 2 years after randomization, a BSX-first revascularization strategy was associated with a significant increase in subsequent OS and a trend towards improved AFS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Letrozole therapy alone or in sequence with tamoxifen in women with breast cancer.
Henning T. Mouridsen,Anita Giobbie-Hurder,Aron Goldhirsch,Beat Thürlimann,Robert Paridaens,Ian E. Smith,Louis Mauriac,John F. Forbes,Karen N. Price,Meredith M. Regan,Richard D. Gelber,Alan S. Coates +11 more
TL;DR: Among postmenopausal women with endocrine-responsive breast cancer, sequential treatment with letrozole and tamoxifen, as compared with let rozole monotherapy, did not improve disease-free survival.

Relationship Between Quantitative Estrogen and Progesterone Receptor Expression and Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER-2) Status With Recurrence in the Arimidex, Tamoxifen, Alone or in Combination Trial
Mitch Dowsett,Craig Allred,Jill Knox,Emma Quinn,Janine Salter,Chris Wale,Jack Cuzick,Joan Houghton,Norman R. Williams,Elizabeth Mallon,H Bishop,Ian O. Ellis,Denis Larsimont,Hironobu Sasano,Pauline J Carder,Antonio Llombart Cussac,F Knox,Valerie Speirs,John F. Forbes,Aman U. Buzdar +19 more
TL;DR: Quantitative expression of ER and PgR and HER-2 status did not identify patients with differential relative benefit from anastrozole over tamoxifen: TTR was longer for anast rozole than for tamoxIFen in all molecular subgroups.
Journal ArticleDOI
Randomized Comparison of Reduction and Fixation, Bipolar Hemiarthroplasty, and Total Hip Arthroplasty. Treatment of Displaced Intracapsular Hip Fractures in Healthy Older Patients
TL;DR: Arthroplasty is more clinically effective and cost-effective than reduction and fixation in healthy older patients with a displaced intracapsular fracture of the hip and the long-term results of total hip replacement may be better than those of bipolar hemiarthroplasty.
