Intramedullary nailing of femoral fractures in adolescents.
Nathan G. Momberger,Peter M. Stevens,John T. Smith,Steven D. Santora,Steven M. Scott,John S. Anderson +5 more
TL;DR: Intramedullary nailing through a trochanteric starting point is a safe, effective method for treating femur fractures in this adolescent age group and no patient developed significant proximal femoral deformity with some follow-up as far as 60 months from the time of surgery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome-Wide Association Study of Suicide Death and Polygenic Prediction of Clinical Antecedents.
Anna R. Docherty,Andrey A. Shabalin,Emily DiBlasi,Eric T. Monson,Niamh Mullins,Daniel E. Adkins,Silviu-Alin Bacanu,Amanda V. Bakian,Sheila E. Crowell,Danli Chen,Todd M. Darlington,William B Callor,Erik Christensen,Douglas Gray,Brooks R. Keeshin,Michael L. Klein,John S. Anderson,Leslie Jerominski,Caroline Hayward,David J. Porteous,Andrew M. McIntosh,Qingqin Li,Hilary Coon +22 more
TL;DR: The first comprehensive genomic analysis of suicide death using previously unpublished genotype data from a large population-ascertained cohort found that the suicide death sample was found to have increased genetic risk for behavioral disinhibition, major depressive disorder, depressive symptoms, autism spectrum disorder, psychosis, and alcohol use disorder.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome-wide significant regions in 43 Utah high-risk families implicate multiple genes involved in risk for completed suicide
Hilary Coon,Todd M. Darlington,Emily DiBlasi,W. Brandon Callor,Elliott Ferris,Alison Fraser,Zhe Yu,Nancy William,S. Das,Sheila E. Crowell,Danli Chen,John S. Anderson,Michael Klein,Leslie Jerominski,Dale S. Cannon,Andrey A. Shabalin,Anna R. Docherty,Megan E. Williams,Ken R. Smith,Brooks R. Keeshin,Amanda V. Bakian,Erik Christensen,Qingqin S. Li,Nicola J. Camp,Douglas Gray +24 more
TL;DR: A resource of ~ 4500 DNA samples from completed suicides obtained from the Utah Medical Examiner to genealogical records and medical records data available on over eight million individuals resulted in the identification of high-risk extended families with significant familial risk of completed suicide.

Genome-wide association study of suicide death and polygenic prediction of clinical antecedents
Anna R. Docherty,Andrey A. Shabalin,John S. Anderson,Emily DiBlasi,Eric Monsen,Silviu Alin Bacanu,Sheila E. Crowell,Douglas Gray,Brooks R. Keeshin,Andrew M. McIntosh,David J. Porteous,Caroline Hayward,Amanda V. Bakian,Todd M. Darlington,Daniel E. Adkins,Niamh Mullins,Qingqin Li,Hilary Coon +17 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors conducted a GWAS of suicide death, with 3,413 population-ascertained cases of European ancestry and 14,810 matched controls, implicating two loci and 10 genes on chromosomes 13, 15, 16, 17, and 19.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polygenic risk scoring and prediction of mental health outcomes.
TL;DR: This review discusses the use of polygenic risk scores in psychology and psychiatry to date, important methodological considerations, and potential of scoring methods for informing psychological science.
