Journal ArticleDOI

Epidemiology of noncomplex left ventricular outflow tract obstruction malformations (aortic valve stenosis, coarctation of the aorta, hypoplastic left heart syndrome) in Texas, 1999-2001.

TL;DR: Sex and ethnic differences suggest genetic etiologies, where the ethnic differences could be used to find susceptibility loci with mapping by admixture linkage disequilibrium, and environmental causes that will require further monitoring are suggested.
Journal Article

Application of carrier testing to genetic counseling for X-linked agammaglobulinemia.

TL;DR: Refinements in techniques for primary carrier testing and genetic mapping of XLA now make possible an ordered approach to diagnosis, prenatal diagnosis, and genetic counseling.
Journal ArticleDOI

Expression of human adenosine deaminase in murine haematopoietic progenitor cells following retroviral transfer.

TL;DR: Transfer and expression of the neomycin-resistance gene (neo) and the ADA gene in murine bone marrow colony-forming units (CFU) was demonstrated by in vitro colony formation in the presence of the antibiotic G418 or 9-xylofuranosyladenine plus deoxycoformycin, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI

Zinc-induced anemia and neutropenia in an adolescent.

TL;DR: An adolescent who developed anemia, leukopenia, and neutropenia after prolonged use of over-the-counter zinc for treatment of acne is reported.
Journal Article

Thymic nurse cells are sites of thymocyte apoptosis.

TL;DR: Results suggest that a function of TNC is the clearance of nonfunctional, nonselected, apoptotic thymocytes, and TCR expression is not necessary for TNC formation.
