The Comprehensive Antibiotic Resistance Database
Andrew G. McArthur,Nicholas Waglechner,Fazmin Nizam,Austin Yan,Marisa A. Azad,Alison J. Baylay,Kirandeep Bhullar,Marc J. Canova,Gianfranco De Pascale,Linda Ejim,Lindsay Kalan,Andrew M. King,Kalinka Koteva,Mariya Morar,Michael R. Mulvey,Jonathan S O'Brien,Andrew C. Pawlowski,Laura J. V. Piddock,Peter Spanogiannopoulos,Arlene D. Sutherland,Irene Tang,Patricia L. Taylor,Maulik N. Thaker,Wenliang Wang,Marie Yan,Tennison Yu,Gerard D. Wright +26 more
TL;DR: The CARD integrates disparate molecular and sequence data, provides a unique organizing principle in the form of the Antibiotic Resistance Ontology (ARO), and can quickly identify putative antibiotic resistance genes in new unannotated genome sequences.
Journal ArticleDOI
An ecological perspective of microbial secondary metabolism.
TL;DR: A growing understanding of the ecology of microbial secondary metabolism is emerging that exposes the central role of secondary metabolites in many complex biological systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Penile Cancer: Contemporary Lymph Node Management
Jonathan S O'Brien,Marlon Perera,Todd G Manning,Mike Bozin,Sonja Cabarkapa,Emily C Chen,Nathan Lawrentschuk,Nathan Lawrentschuk +7 more
TL;DR: Current data suggest that dynamic sentinel lymph node biopsy provides excellent sensitivity and specificity for detecting lymph node metastases, and more robust long‐term data on multicenter patient cohorts are required to determine the optimal management of lymph nodes in penile cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Three dimensional models in uro-oncology: a future built with additive fabrication.
Todd G Manning,Jonathan S O'Brien,Daniel Christidis,Marlon Perera,Marlon Perera,Jasamine Coles-Black,Jason Chuen,Damien M Bolton,Nathan Lawrentschuk,Nathan Lawrentschuk +9 more
TL;DR: The area of 3D printing in Urology shows promising results, but further research is required and cost reduction must occur before clinicians fully embrace its use.
Journal ArticleDOI
Discovery of Ibomycin, a Complex Macrolactone that Exerts Antifungal Activity by Impeding Endocytic Trafficking and Membrane Function
Nicole Robbins,Michaela Spitzer,Wenliang Wang,Nicholas Waglechner,Dhruv J. Patel,Jonathan S O'Brien,Linda Ejim,Obi Ejim,Mike Tyers,Gerard D. Wright +9 more
TL;DR: The results delineate a novel antifungal agent that is produced by one of the largest documented biosynthetic clusters to date and underscore the fact that there remains significant untapped chemical diversity of natural products with application in antimicrobial research.
